Ghost planes killed my VATSIM data!

During my most recent controlling session, something interesting happened: There would be four planes always in my arrivals list. The little simulation triangles would appear far away, and then slowly move towards my airspace. Eventually one would reach my visibility range. When this happens, the triangles (and the entries in my Sector Inbound List and Planes List) would disappear, and everything would start over again, with the far-away triangles slowly coming into my airspace.

There four planes actually came in at the start of my controlling session. I talked to them, guided them in, and they landed and eventually disconnected. The ghosts, however, remained! I am using Professional Radar simulation mode with C-mode correlation mode. Correlation distance is 30nm. "Simulate radar coverage and outage" is disabled.

Once these ghosts appeared, something else interesting started to take place: I could see inbound planes on VATSpy, but my Planes list would never show the arrivals until they came within my visibility range.

I can confirm that the data file was being loaded. At least, every once in a while the Message display would show that it was Downloading "http://info.vroute.net/vatsim-data.txt". I don't remember if the # of controllers and # of pilots ever changed, though!

Eventually, I quit and re-started EuroScope. Now I am getting the error "VATSIM data Older than 20 minutes". EuroScope is still downloading from info.vroute.net, and I just checked; the 'UPDATE' timestamp on the file is only a few minutes old (less than 10 minutes old). My local clock is also correct.

So, this has been a very interesting experience, one that has not happened in the 10+ days that I've been using version 3.1a!

Karl,

It is quite interesting. I have a feeling that somehow the same VATSIM data was loaded several times (that may move the simulated traffic back), and not showing the up to date data. It is strange that it was not indicated to be outdated. Please report if you see similar.

Just a tip. If you are sure that a simulated plane is completely invalid, the just click on the callsign and select "terminate" to terminate the FP track simulation.
