Brad Littlejohn Posted January 19, 2010 at 09:37 AM Posted January 19, 2010 at 09:37 AM Interesting change here: o.9-2-10. LAND-BASED AIR DEFENSE IDENTIFICATION ZONE (ADIZ)/AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) SECURITY SERVICES This change deletes the reference to terminal and replaces Land-Based Air Defense Identification Zone with Washington, D.C., SFRA. This change cancels and incorporates N JO 7110.503, Washington, D.C., Special Flight Rules Area (DC SFRA)/Air Traffic Control (ATC) Security Services, effective May 11, 2009. This kills the ADIZ along Capitol Mall, right? BL. Brad Littlejohn ZLA Senior Controller

Sounds like it just moves it into the .65 instead of an external docomeent.. Mike Evans
Julian Hoffman 850174 Posted February 1, 2010 at 09:11 PM Posted February 1, 2010 at 09:11 PM Correct. The Air Defense Zone remains in effect, just moved to a more permanent status. Don't go flying over DC anytime soon, we'll shoot you down. Alex Evins 976213 Posted February 2, 2010 at 06:48 PM Posted February 2, 2010 at 06:48 PM It's no longer an ADIZ, it's now an SFRA. So technically it does kill the ADIZ but replaces it with pretty much the same thing under a different name. That's what I was wondering. it isn't its own unique ADIZ, like the one we have around the CONUS, separating us from, say, N[Mod - Happy Thoughts]au or Havana FIRs. BL.
