FSX Multiple Monitor issues.

Hey all,

I've been having an issue lately attempting to hook up two monitors to use with FSX. I've successfully hooked up both monitors and both work fine outside of FSX. The problem I am having though is that when I enable the 2nd monitor and start to fly the game finishes loading and the screen keeps flickering. It either flickers between black and the loading screen or black and a black & white representation of the game world. However, when I disable the second monitor the game works just fine.

I am running both monitors & FSX on Windows 7 x64

System Specs:

Video Card -- NVIDIA GeForce 9800S

Processor -- Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz

Motherboard -- NVIDIA nForce 760i SLI

Primary Monitor -- LG W2453V (Flatron) [connected with HDMI]

Secondary Monitor -- Acer AL1715 [connected with VGA]

If anyone could offer any suggestions to the problem, that'd be great. But, for now, I've disabled the second monitor while using FSX so I can actually fly.

Thanks,

Austin.

Hi,

1. Are you using PREVIEW in DX10 mode?

2. When did you last update your Nvidia drivers?

3. Did you make any changes you are aware of in the Nvidia control panel graphics settings?

4. Are you using nhancer?

I had to turn off DX10 in order to get multiple monitors to work on my system.

Nuriel, do you use windowed mode or full screen? I use windowed mode ... that might be a difference.

Both and having no issues whatsoever.

When u activate Preview in DX10, u override any nvidia control panel settings or nhancer. i dont know if that has anything to do with you not being able to see DX10 on two screens.

I do know that DX10 behave very weird on different systems, I heard of people with flickerings all around when activating DX10... all kind of weird things.

I can say that it does give me FPS boost, that is for sure. I had to correct and optimize scenery i am working on so it would be compatible and not flickering with DX10.

I hope we can have some Graphic's/computer guru jump in and help on this one.

Where's nick n?

The biggest issue I had with DX10 is that I couldn't run FSX in windowed mode, and be able to undock any subpanels and drag them to my other monitors. When I tried, those subpanels would either go completely black, or they just wouldn't update. And my cursor would get stuck on the "loading" cursor state, and flicker between that and the normal cursor. Any ideas how to resolve that? I would prefer to use DX10 since I get better FPS.

1. I am not running preview in DX10 mode, however I will try that and see observe the results.

2. I am running FSX in full screen mode (as always) because I usually tend to see a performance boost running in the mode. However, running FSX in windowed mode will allow me to run the game.

3. I am not using nhancer.

4. And finally, yes, all my video card drivers are up to date.

Austin,

Are you connecting your second monitor via a DVI connector on your video card?
