Brad Littlejohn Posted February 4, 2010 at 11:28 PM Posted February 4, 2010 at 11:28 PM Bloody hell, Alex! Now I want a cheesesteak! Actually, reminds me of my 9/11 story. on 9/11/2002, in order to show the world that we weren't afraid to fly (especially on that day), National Airlines (ROK) offered $1 fares (one way) to anywhere that they flew. This was in addition to their free night in Las Vegas should you have to fly through it. Since I lived there, the free night didn't really help. Anyway, I purchase two one-way flights: one KLAS-KPHL and return. The KLAS-KPHL flight was a redeye, so I would get in in the morning. I didn't take anything with me. My goal was to spend the day in Philly, grab a cheesesteak from one of the Kiosks on the corner of 5th and Market street (next to Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell), then fly home. Which I did. Landed at 8:45am, took the train into the city, walked through the mall in downtown Philly, saw the USS Delaware, walked through Constitution Hall, Went to the site where Rocky went up the steps, back to Downtown Philly, bought my cheesesteak, took the train back to the airport, and at 5pm, caught my flight back home. Made it back at 8pm local time. Airfare: $2 (with $15 in fees). Parking at the airport: $8. train ticket at PHL: $5 (daily p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]). Cheesesteak: $7. Flying across the country to get a good real cheesesteak from the source: Priceless. Smelling up the airplane with beef, provolone cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms for 5 hours: PRICELESS. For everything else, make your own flight to Philly. BL. Brad Littlejohn ZLA Senior Controller

Brad, you forgot to mention causing the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]engers within earshot of you ongoing mental trauma as you explained to everyone everything the plane, pilots, cabin crew, and mechanical devices on-board were doing the entire flight! Now I understand why most airlines can MEL the lavs! Gerry Hattendorf ZLA Webmaster VATSIM Supervisor

Actually when I was there, I got pushed away rather quick. Turned out Wil Smith was shooting a video there that day. BL.
