You need to connect to VATSIM if you expect to be able to use it. That's what the XSquawkBox "Connect" dialog is for. Choose a server from the popup menu, put in your VATSIM ID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word and click connect. Once connected, you can position yourself at an airport that has ATC. You can use an application like VATSpy (Windows) or QuteScoop (Mac) to see what ATC are online. Once you've positioned yourself at the airport, you can use the "Who's Online" menu item from XSquawkBox to see what controllers are online in the area and their frequency. Tune your COM1 radio to their frequency and you can talk them via text. You can also talk to them via voice if you've got a USB headset and setup your sound devices correctly in the XSquawkBox Audio Setup dialog. 3). how can i set up a flight plan? ive checked google and youtube theres no help.... i lost on how to use the FMC.... XSquawkBox has a menu item for "Send Flightplan." You need to be connected first though. As for the FMC, you can find plenty of tutorials on X-plane.org. 4). ALSO! installed this autogate thing.... how can i set up the game to have terminals actually show?? Autogate doesn't have anything to do with showing terminals. All it does is guide you into a parking space and have the jetway move out. To get terminals, you need to download scenery. You can find tons of scenery on X-plane.org or by using Google. Autogate requires scenery that is "autogate enabled." Look on X-Plane.org for scenery that mentions it's compatible with Autogate.

Wade Williams 877539 Posted February 16, 2010 at 06:24 AM Posted February 16, 2010 at 06:24 AM This is the connect dialog box. Plugins->XSquawkBox->Connect. See the Server menu I have highlighted? Pull it down and select one of the servers. Fill in a callsign (you can make one up), your real name, your VATSIM ID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word and click connect. Wade Williams 877539 Posted February 17, 2010 at 07:35 PM Posted February 17, 2010 at 07:35 PM The only reason you should not have items in that menu is if you're running an older version of XSB. The current version is 1.03b1

Wade Williams 877539 Posted February 17, 2010 at 10:27 PM Posted February 17, 2010 at 10:27 PM Well, that is true Ross, if HTTP were blocked from the VATSIM servers, that would cause an empty list. Obviously so would completely blocking HTTP. In such a case, as the user has discovered, they can type a server name or IP address in the server field as a workaround. Obviously that has the disadvantage of having to find out another valid server address should the one in use ever go down.
