Robert Sutton 905737 Posted October 3, 2005 at 09:03 PM Posted October 3, 2005 at 09:03 PM I am operating FS 02 and 04 with Windows XP. I have a great computer. I also have dial-up for my connection. I live in the sticks, and cannot get cable or DSL. I am very serioysly considering spending the extra dollars for satilite(DIRECTWAY). Are there any difficulties connecting to VATSIM , SQWK 3, etc with Satelite connections - Thanks ahead ( Bob KIAH)
Norm Hare 907837 Posted October 4, 2005 at 04:29 PM Posted October 4, 2005 at 04:29 PM At one time, you still needed a dial out connection for satelite internet access. In other words, downloading was accomplished via the satelite (recieve only) and uploading was done through a dialup connection. Not sure if this is the case any longer. Bryan Wollenberg 810243 Posted October 4, 2005 at 06:40 PM Posted October 4, 2005 at 06:40 PM It's no longer the case, but you pay considerably more for upload and download via satellite. Have several friends on Satellite Internet. They pay ~$100/mo. for a 750kbps connection (128kbps upload). Bryan Wollenberg ZLA!
