Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted March 9, 2010 at 02:44 PM Posted March 9, 2010 at 02:44 PM I currently use FSX. I tried the X-Plane demo, and I noticed that not only did the only default airliner not have a virtual cockpit, but it seemed even more limited than the FSX default jets. I also couldn't seem to find any payware or freeware addons for X-Plane. Am I right in having the impression that their are no realistic planes available for X-Plane? Wade Williams 877539 Posted March 9, 2010 at 05:45 PM Posted March 9, 2010 at 05:45 PM Depends on what you're looking for. Does PMDG (or comparable other payware) exist in the X-plane world? No. Do highly modeled aircraft exist as freeware (or more commonly) as payware? Yes. Are they to a level of PMDG? No. If you want the PMDG experience, I'd advise you to stick with FSX until the day comes when it no longer runs, or PMDG decides to do an X-Plane version. Larry Thompson 1153073 Posted May 1, 2010 at 10:34 AM Posted May 1, 2010 at 10:34 AM Not sure why everyone is under the impression that there are not many payware and addons for Xplane Just go to Xplane .org and search the files or follow the add links

Have you not looked at x-plane.org yet? For freeware: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads For payware: the store from x-plane.org, http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/StoreFront and scattered about the web. My favourite so far is the free Piaggio Avanti Alterna, an upgrade to the built-in P180 Avanti: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=9572 For addons, there's checklister, autogate, pilotview, sceneries like Inside P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]age (http://www.xplanefreeware.net/tom/InsideP[Mod - Happy Thoughts]age/Home.html) and FMCs like VasFMC and UFMC (which the Alterna supports out of the box), not to mention XSquawkBox, Xtraffic, and others, also found at x-plane.org: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=9 For an example of nice 3D cockpits (this one payware), see: Still wishing for a TrackIR ( ) to hook up to the sim. Works with MS FS, too.
Chris Kawchuk 1129097 Posted May 8, 2010 at 11:43 PM Posted May 8, 2010 at 11:43 PM This is currently my favourite GA Aircraft (Piper PA28-181 Piper Archer III ) http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=8870 Full 3d cockpit, widescreen display, etc. Here's a whole bunch of full-3d-cockpit-all-bells-n-whistles Heavy metal: (747, 767, 737 etc..) http://forums.xplanefreeware.net/files/category/18-airliners/ Try these out for samples of "Full Aircraft" on X-Plane. =) - Chris. Chris Kawchuk 1129097 Posted May 9, 2010 at 12:22 AM Posted May 9, 2010 at 12:22 AM Last time I checked, almost EVERY heavy-metal plane in X-Plane has an FMC. I'm surprised you havent downloaded any of these that we've suggested and answered your own question with 3 minutes of investigation. =P The x737 project also has a full x737 FMC from Javier Cortez ytou can add (UFMC) which is *precisely* the FMC in the 737NG series. The Piper - I just checked for you - sorry does not have an FMC, since it has the exact same instrumentation that it should in real life. It's also a Beautiful 2D panel, not 3d. I'll check around for you for some nice 3D cockpits Ive found, and post back. - Chris.

It's hard to resist mentioning the Sequoia Falco when talking 3D cockpits for X-Plane. I recently purchased UFMC, am liking it so far.

It does not come close to UFMC or VasFMC. Just don't want anyone getting X-plane and thinking the default FMC will be equal to a fully-modeled FMC.
