Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted March 9, 2010 at 09:08 PM Posted March 9, 2010 at 09:08 PM Does anyone know of a free weather add-on that can be used to put in the Vatsim weather? I'm getting a little sick of switching between Vatsim and FSX weather and I'd rather not shell out the 50 bucks for Activesky.
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted March 9, 2010 at 10:22 PM Posted March 9, 2010 at 10:22 PM there are none. the only free ones only provide random weather not including FSINN or squawkbox which have theyre own weather programs

Lennart Vedin Posted March 10, 2010 at 08:15 AM Posted March 10, 2010 at 08:15 AM I did use free weather program FSMetar with FS2004 before I buy ASA. As FSUIPC are available with FSX I should find that FSMetar work with the free version of FSUIPC4 4.60 on FSX. You may ask in FSUIPC forum. FSMetar can be selected to use VATSIM bacic weather (i.e. wind and airpressure) togeather with FSMetar database additional weather such as rain/snow etc. If use VATSIM client weather: FSINN have it's own additional database weather such as rain/snow etc. , while squawkbox only use VATSIM basic weather. / Lennart Vedin /
Larry James 901346 Posted March 13, 2010 at 02:34 PM Posted March 13, 2010 at 02:34 PM Does anyone know of a free weather add-on that can be used to put in the Vatsim weather? I'm getting a little sick of switching between Vatsim and FSX weather and I'd rather not shell out the 50 bucks for Activesky. Hi, Darrol. FSInn has a very powerful and dynamic weather engine. It will use VATSIM’s weather thought its dynamic engine. In other words, it’d be VATSIM’s weather, but very dynamic. The engine rivals any Payware addon that someone might find. It was developed by very advanced developers for the Flight Simulator community. I’m sure some of the lack of appreciation comes from people expecting to get less if they pay less. For people familiar with database engines, they might not necessarily say mysql (which is freeware) is less because it cost less than microsoft’s sql. The developer chose not to charge for his tools, but I don’t think you can find a better programmer anywhere. Because of a glitch in Simconnect at the time of the developing, there is a glitch in using it which is resolved by following the workaround that is provided in the Installation sticky in the FSInn forum. Check it out. I’ll be surprised if it didn’t meet your specifications. I’d be glad to help you if you have any problems with it. The workaround is two or three clicked when ascending to high altitudes and a single click when descending. I believe the work around is a very small price to pay when considering the benefit. -- L. For FSInn/VATSIM issues, please test the FSInn Installation sticky and linked FAQ. It really works!
