Nick Johnston Posted March 18, 2010 at 12:40 PM Posted March 18, 2010 at 12:40 PM Changes to VATNZ Oceanic Frequencies and Voice Rooms As part of upcoming changes to the way Oceanic Control throughout the Pacific is managed, VATNZ and VATPAC are separating the frequency and voice rooms for their Oceanic positions. Until now, VATNZ and VATPAC Oceanic Control has all been within a shared frequency (128.6) and voice room (/pac_oceanic). This is a legacy of VATNZ's earlier time as part of the VATPAC division. Brisbane Radio has a real-world history of using the 128.6 frequency, whereas all of New Zealand's Oceanic control is performed exclusively using HF. Therefore, VATNZ will be moving to new frequencies. This change will enable both divisions to more effectively manage their Oceanic control, and will enable smoother operations during periods of high traffic volume. Note, the change in frequencies in no way prevents Oceanic-endorsed controllers from extending coverage as desired, both within the two VATNZ sectors, and into Brisbane or Nadi Radio. Effective 12am Friday March 19 2010 NZDT, VATNZ's Oceanic Positions are as follows: Callsign: NZZO_FSS Radio Name: Auckland Radio Frequency: 128.900 MHz Voice Room: /nzzo_fss Callsign: NZCM_FSS Radio Name: McMurdo Radio Frequency: 128.700 Voice Room: /nzcm_fss Sector boundaries and all other SOPs remain unchanged.
