Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted March 23, 2010 at 11:38 AM Posted March 23, 2010 at 11:38 AM As a part of the great VATEUD Open Sky initiative, I have intentions of controlling a bit in forgotten Slovenia on weekly basis, when possible one day a week at least, beside the ATC in Croatia. I am still trying to find out which day suits best, as Tuesdays are Croatian online eves, while Wednesdays are Austrian online eves, and the 2 VATSIM slovenian pilots think that weekends are best... I will start at the little and interesting airport Portoroz/LJPZ in western tip/coast of Slovenia. This picturesque airport with its 1200 m runway is a destination to a single regular flight with ATR 72 and a lot of training, picnic and business-flights mainly from the neighbouring Austria, Italy, Croatia etc. And according to demand, I will be able to connect up to APP at any of the positions, being Ljubljana/LJLJ - the capital, and Maribor/LJMB - the 2.nd largest and big industrial city, hereby also nearby Slovenj Gradec/LJSG - a famous ski, hiking and picnic destination also suitable for training flights or just a fresh breath and challenging approach. Updated RL charts are to be found here. Also further intentions are to support the FYR Macedonia guys with [Mod - Happy Thoughts]isting them in ATC. Since I am travelling on holiday Friday, I am not sure if I will make it this week, but otherwise from beginning of April, I will be on Without promising too much, welcome to support and reconnect the broken link between central and southeastern Europe by activating Slovenia (and FYR Macedonia) P.S: Feedback on which day suits you best for Slovenia is welcome indeed Later will maybe a ATC-request feature be added, at least as reply to this topic or mailing to me. But for now, it is still in its early stage and not too much shall be promised Hope on your support Mirza Ibrahimovic | VATSIM Adria PR & Events Manager
Norbert Pflug 899571 Posted March 25, 2010 at 01:59 PM Posted March 25, 2010 at 01:59 PM Servus Mirza, i would go for Wednesday's as as the neighbour country is having their online day, and I am sure the Event Team @ VACC-Austria are more than happy to arrange something in style for Slovenja Do you have a good sector file for Euroscope that covers the main airports in LJLJ_Airspace ? or can you point into a good direction... Maybe we are able to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist having LJLJ_Airspace more often online Cheers, Norbert >>>>>> http://www.fly737.com <<<<<<
Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted March 25, 2010 at 02:26 PM Author Posted March 25, 2010 at 02:26 PM Hi Norbert, I was also aiming for wednesdays, but then I have to miss the god Austrian ATC, a pitty But I think there is most potential there wednesdays, with the Austrian and German VFR tfc etc. I have allready a good co operation with Michael W, he is doing the sector and ese files and we have just reworked a POF for SLO. So it is looking good and lets shoot it from Wednesday 7.th April, when I am back from holiday in the region P.S: You can arrange future SLO ATC with Michael W, I will mann LJPZ_TWR/APP to get used to the airspace and slowly move towards LJLJ etc. Mirza Ibrahimovic | VATSIM Adria PR & Events Manager
Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted April 7, 2010 at 12:13 AM Author Posted April 7, 2010 at 12:13 AM Aaaand, Portoroz is ready for action... ...from today, Wednesday 7.th April 2010 at 1800 UTC, Portoroz APP/TWR will be online and aim to be online at least wednesdays. VATEUD has aprooved the RL station name LJPZ_APP and frequency 124.870 and ATC software is being updated in the background. ATC bookings will be made on vRoute! Hereby pilots are invited to visit Portoroz and show their skills on the 1200 m short and often rainy and windy runway, where even a AT7/DH8D can run in problems on the visual and/or procedural approach and during backtrack turns on 30 m wide runway, not to talk about F100/B146/CRJ/ERJ. Here are a few apertisers: Really hope on your support, so come and visit Portoroz, soon you can also take a swim nearby Kind regards Mirza ibrahimovic CROvACC & VATEUD Open Sky ATCo P.S: Don't forget to check out the charts, as oversize aircrafts due to limitations can not be accepted (AT7/DH8D/B146/F100/CRJ/ERJ are a proposed max). Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted April 7, 2010 at 10:19 PM Author Posted April 7, 2010 at 10:19 PM So, tonight Portoroz lost virginity on VATSIM! Not so much action as promised by pilots in the background, but the last tfc flow with 3 planes after each other was great, as the APP is procedural with restricted areas due noise regulations and airfield very little with backtracks and 1 twy for that kind of aircrafts (ATR 72 and F100). Hereby when 3.rd aircraft was landing, the other 2 were ready for dep and since the 3.rd had to go around due to heavy bird activity (lets say that ), the others departed just behind his track, nice flow Very nice little field with positive response from the pilots, who I thank for the co operation, so looking for further action here. Once again, welcome to the salty coast and its little airport, Portoroz Kind regards Mirza ibrahimovic CROvACC & VATEUD Open Sky ATCo Mirza Ibrahimovic | VATSIM Adria PR & Events Manager

Andreas Fuchs Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:01 AM Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:01 AM Hi Mirza, go for it! It's great that you regularly open these "forgotten" airports and, the most important, that you announce it here and booked it through VATBOOK! Continue! Success will be your reward. Also try to get other people into the boat to provide area-control to connect to other active airspaces. Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:11 AM Author Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:11 AM Thanks Andreas, I am trying to do my best, but am bit afraid to make a big stunt out of it by this advertising, but again, it is not ciriminal, but only good updated info And you...try to gett some pilots to me today, every pilot that doubs where to go and has less of 110 pax (F100 limiot), send them to me, we will find place on the 3-4 planes apron You see, I am doing my best in the region, among collegaues on forums etc, and the support is great regional from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and FYR Macedonia. But I really saw that Austrian and Italian, maybe even Hungarian pilots visited me. But here is a limitation of, how much you can disturb people with asking/inspiring them, even though it all is in hope of getting more tfc and supporting entire region... Grüße aus Kopenhagen, Mirza Ibrahimovic CROvACC & VATEUD Open Sky ATCo P.S: When it gets a bit warmer, Slovenj Gradec/LJSG will be great for hiking and picnick (as it now is neighter for skiing or hiking), so I will be there too Mirza Ibrahimovic | VATSIM Adria PR & Events Manager
Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:40 PM Author Posted April 14, 2010 at 09:40 PM Another great night at Portoroz, with mixed traffic patterns at C172 and L39, and flights on Dash 8, ATR 72, B737, F100, MD82 (he is now landing but I must off, interesting will be the turn around on 30 m runway) and one SF340 diverting from LJLJ due to runway construction So thanks to all and cya again folks next wednesday, same time and place, just a bit warmer - welcome Kind regards, Mirza Ibrahimovic CROvACC & VATEUD Open Sky ATCo P.S. Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted April 28, 2010 at 09:14 PM Author Posted April 28, 2010 at 09:14 PM I want to thank all the pilots tonight for the great action, where in 4 hrs there were constant traffic flow, from locals to pilots from the northern Europe, from helicopters to B737 (upon the newly constructed 45 m wide turn around pad near rwy 33, as can be seen in the first picture where it is under construction). Hereby the apron was constant full with up to 5 medium sized aircrafts forced on it and it was a coordinated action to get room to all the traffic, backtracks, both inb and outb using the same taxiway etc., but the captains did a grerat job, whome I thank for the co operation and professionalism. And when I mention the crowd, here is a parking info, so we can have many planes parked. It worked tonight : - When there are crowds of medium sized aircrafts (AT72/DH8D/B737/A32S/F100), only parking positions B, A (< AT72/DH8D), G1, G3 and G8 will be used (< B737). Hereby positions G2, G4-G7 are not in use and the only active twy on apron is F and B. - The parking should be preformed according to charts, and also at G1, G3 and G8 with a left turn for ability to taxiout to twy F and twy B, as push backs are not used in RL/no ground eq. - And when G8 is used, the little light aircraft twy C-A is closed. - GA can in crowds be expected to park either at solid apron if able, or at gr[Mod - Happy Thoughts] next to B position (RL gr[Mod - Happy Thoughts] apron), in front of the hangars behind TWR or at gr[Mod - Happy Thoughts] north of apron/twy C-A. Regarding the new turn around pad: - As mentioned from RL sources, I have been confirmed that a 50x45 m turn around pad at rwy 15 end/near rwy 33 is constructed, and hereby larger wheelbase aircrafts with correct config. can be used on the LDA1200 and TODA1250 m runway. The charts are not yet been updated in the AIP. Nighter is a new AFCAD to find. But traffic can simulate the pad, e.g. B737s and longer aircrafts can taxi to the end for turnaround, as if the pad was there etc. So with fresh info, welcome next week, same time & place and ATCo - me Best regards, Mirza Ibrahimovic | VATSIM Adria PR & Events Manager

I would certainly encourage you (Mirza) to liaise with Pedro Azevedo as we're working on a similar project in FYRoM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) at the moment and so perhaps if some coincidence could be achieved in terms of manning we could get some shuttle flights between the two. The "follow me" moped, that's a first for me! It's only a matter of time no doubt before they have electric bikes doing this at Gatwick! Mirza Ibrahimovic Posted June 3, 2010 at 11:05 PM Author Posted June 3, 2010 at 11:05 PM Hi Thomas, long time no seen I am/have in the begining been in contact with Goran, and know that he is a busy man. He said, that I should enjoy Slovenia and do ATC in the airports as I desire, according to the VATEUD Open Sky, and ofc he was glad to se interest here. So I weel keep LJPZ as my little pleasure and relaxation oasis as long as I can/not get tired of the place Also during the begining, I have spoken with some FYR Macedonian collegaues, that also staffed Sarajevo, regarding FYROM-staffing. We will try to get it staffed soon, and help on events ofc., but I can't promise that I will have time fore it, as I allmost neighter have for much else then LJPZ ATC. I will therefore advise all ATCos that would like to help, to begin working a bit in FYROM to make the place shine. Pedro, I will have a chat with you when I get a bit time, busy over the weekend But since we are in the VATEUD Open Sky discussion, I have just been looking a bit at Albanias 2.nd civil airport, that is 2 years old but not yet active, Kukes/LAKU, interessting place with fresh 1800m rwy surrounded by lakes and high terrain. So if the RL politics soon settle over there and the airport gets its permissions for operations. I have the last days called 7 different ministeries and departments in Albania, as soon as they hear me ask for english talking person, they hang on! The only person that did not do it, was a Tirana Airport-guy who explained the details a bit. But for now, no charts for the airport to be obtained. But probably soon, we will be able to staff 2 airports in Albania for civil flights (not that it helps with 2 further hardly manned airports, but opens a bit the perspective regarding the region, events etc). And regarding Kukes-region, just north of it in Kosovo, Dakova/Gjakove, the Italian AMIKO base with also 1800 m rwy is expected to be opened for civil traffic and later in the future used as alternate for Pristina, as Kukues also is intended for. So, something is going on in the region, now we just need ATCos http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/9638/kukes1zg0.jpg http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3333/kukesnd8.jpg Regarding moped, enjoy this contribution: http://www.dr.dk/NR/rdonlyres/F5C3542D-2054-4531-80F8-A3CCA68E6959/1276745/7432041ed33d413390cc959ea51d08b7_DSC_0748.jpghttp://www.dr.dk/NR/rdonlyres/2544C207-FE58-430B-A183-F828B2AAF6C9/1276955/d2a7dd0bed3246f1843d813270a3a424_DSC_0741.jpg http://www.dr.dk/NR/rdonlyres/F5C3542D-2054-4531-80F8-A3CCA68E6959/1277166/ee255ab5511448698bbc56fa1bf67f49_DSC_0771.jpg Former Billund International Airport (native LEGOLAND town) Follow Me (and also baggage truck) equipment, that was used for years till new terminal was opened. It is home made (at airport) electronit golf-car looking little veichle, contributing to reducing CO2. Now imagine a B747 following it, as it happened some times, and DC-10 very often...
