Leon Hicks 851303 Posted March 23, 2010 at 01:58 PM Posted March 23, 2010 at 01:58 PM I cannot seem to find a definitive set of instructions to set up my Logitec Clear Chat USB headset in Windows7 & FSX. I would like to use the headset for talk and my speakers for engines etc. I understand I can do this with a USB headset. Various sites refer to XP or Vista but the control panel references are totally different to Windows7. |I am having difficulty at times understanding the controller with my present system and am told that the use of a USB system will make communication much clearer. I have not been on line very much, but hope the use of a USB will enable me to enjoy on-line flying much more. Very grateful for any help you can give. Just go into the FSX sound options and specify which device you want it to output to. Then go into your pilot client and do the same. Specify one for FSX and one device for your pilot client and you'll have it all set. You shouldn't have any problems identifying which device you're looking at is for your USB headset and the sound card in your system. If you're not sure which is which, just tell us the devices you see and we'll tell you which device is your speakers and which is your USB headset. By the way, there are lots of variations on how to set this up, but this method should be quiet seamless. -- L. James -- L. D. Then go to FSX under the sounds options/settings and look at the name of the device that you have for FSX. Make sure they are different devices… one device/name for your pilot client and one device/name for your Flight Simulator X. -- L. James -- L. D. David Gaines 1084234 Posted October 9, 2010 at 01:15 PM Posted October 9, 2010 at 01:15 PM Thanks for this post. I have the same problem (USB headset, Win 7 64 Pro, FSX, top of the line system with multi monitors) but I use FSInn and I don't see where to make the adjustment in FSInn. Adjusting FSX sound options is straightforward. I'll search the FSInn help forum in the mean time, but any help is appreciated. David

David Gaines 1084234 Posted October 9, 2010 at 04:02 PM Posted October 9, 2010 at 04:02 PM Yes, I saw that I had the same problem last year. I have changed computers since then and have a different OS. Fortunately, I was able to get this set up just through trial and error. I now have voice only through my headset and other noises via the speakers. What I am missing, though, is the sound of the engines! (Flying PMDG 748 at the moment) The FSX slider for sound for engine is above 85%. Ever hear of this issue?
Larry James 901346 Posted October 9, 2010 at 04:18 PM Posted October 9, 2010 at 04:18 PM Yes, I saw that I had the same problem last year. I have changed computers since then and have a different OS. Most people never really expect to start over, but many people do start over with a different OS from time to time. This is the reason I always use the two messages provided in the FSInn Help forum for resolving FSInn issues. This will relieve the user of a lot of frustration with trying to rediscover already tested and working resolutions. Fortunately, I was able to get this set up just through trial and error. I had hoped to relieve you of the trial and error this time and the next time. Thanks for this post.
