All UK members are reminded that VATSIM-UK hosts a Teamspeak server that is available for members use 24hrs a day 7 days a week. It is a very useful tool to use when coordinating with adjacent controllers, coming to our "basic training nights" for new pilots or simply to pop into to chat with others. It is a valuable resource and very well used but never really been advertised properly. In an attempt to address that issue this post is created and "stickied" to ensure newer members are aware of its existence.

The first thing you should do if you wish to participate is download the latest teamspeak client from here www.goteamspeak.com/news.php You need the TS2 client from the download list on the right of the screen. Then install the program.

Once installed you need to connect to our server. This is how to do it.

Step 1

1. Open Teamspeak (TS)

2. Click on settings and then sound input/output settings

3. Make sure "push to talk" is selected and then click set and hit a button you wish to use. I use the left CTRL key.

4. Click close to close that window.

5. Click on the connection drop down and select quick connect

6. In the pop up window.. enter the server address 80.249.98.88

7. In the nickname field enter your first and last names.. i.e Fred Jones

8. Leave the login name and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word fields blank and click on connect

9. This will cause you to join the VATSIM-UK TS server. You will be in a room called "arrivals lounge"

10. You will not be able to speak to anybody in this room.

11. A server administrator will then join you and grant voice rights. He/she can then walk you through the registration process

12. Once complete you are free to use the UK Teamspeak whenever you choose.

If a server administrator is not online (member has (SA) after their name) then please try later. The best time is during the evenings.

Step 2

Once you have successfully been granted registration on the UK server you need to do a few more things to make life a little easier for you.

1. Upon being granted registration you should hear a voice message saying "Registration granted"

2. Click on the "Self" drop down and select "register with server"

3. Complete the fields with log in name, user p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word verification. Any username or p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word is fine. Your VATSIM ID and P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word is NOT recommended.

4. When complete you should hear "Registration Complete".

5. Now you need to set up VATSIM-UK in your Teamspeak address book.

6. Click the "Connection" drop down and select "Connect"

7. In the white area to the left, right click and select "add server". This will highlight a new server for you... over type with VATSIM-UK

8. This should now open the boxes on the right of the window. Enter the details as below

9. Label VATSIM-UK

10. Server Address 80.249.98.88

11. Nickname Your first and last name i.e John Brown

12. Make sure the "registered" box is checked

13. Log in Name The log in name you used on registering with the server

14. User P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word The p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word you chose when registering with the server

15. Default Channel departure lounge

If you now click "connect" at the bottom of the window you will be disconnected and reconnected immediately. You should appear in the departure lounge, showing your name with an ® next to it. When you come to join next time, instead of entering the details in the quick connect box you can simply highlight VATSIM-UK in your address book and click "connect"
