laptops normally dont play too good with FSX, or even FS9 on some.

you might be fine, altho youll want to play with the sliders to see what works best for you

My laptop now, a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 actually ran FS9 very well on pretty high settings, and my new laptop beats the one i have now by a long shot so we''ll see I guess

uhm.....I don't know much about laptops, but that should literally "mount and have it's way with" FS9....

Also important to note: FSX doesn't run well on anything

I think you guys are focusing too much on the laptop part... if you actually look at the specs, those are very similar (although not as good as) the boxes that OrbX use for testing. (OrbX are the guys who brought you FTX AU, YMML, etc.) With their latest product, Brisbane (YBBN) they are reporting 25 fps with sliders almost maxed... note that the ground textures are at 7px/m

Not sure if it is possible (or even advisable, given that it is a laptop), but for reference the desktop model of the i7 chip has been o/c'd to 4.0GHz successfully - with extra cooling of course!

biggest thing to worry about with laptops and any type of gaming is heat. best thing to do is to get a good cooling pad to increase airflow. aside from that i've been running FS9 and FSX on my laptop for years and it always been good.

Just thought I should let you guys know that I got the computer, and to my surprise I am able to play with all the sliders on "ultra high" and the traffic sliders down a bit and my fps rarely drops below 40 and get and average of about 60.

good to hear that things are up and running when you get a chance get a good cooling pad to help with airflow so you don't cook things, or worse burn your legs sleets ect.

Do you guys know of any cooling pads that will fit a 18.4 inch screen? Most of the ones I have seen are built for 7-15 inch screens.

The size of the laptop really shouldn't matter. It is there to provide a separation from the surface as well as provide a couple of fans that can send the heat out in a different direction thereby keeping the surface cooler, not just the laptop, but the table or whatever place you keep it on. So it is pretty much a one size fits all soln. They are available $7.99 upwards (in the US).
