Martin Arial 1085160 Posted April 21, 2010 at 03:59 PM Posted April 21, 2010 at 03:59 PM I think I read somewhere that for general aviation airplanes with really basic instrumentations, that we must use aircraft suffixe /G. However, the /G in the pick-up list of XSquawkbox correspond to GPS equipped aircrafts. Not all G.A. aircrafts have GPS onboard. Must be something really stupid I'm mixing-up so please turn-on my light.

Martin Arial 1085160 Posted April 22, 2010 at 12:13 AM Author Posted April 22, 2010 at 12:13 AM More specifically, I'm flying the Cirrus Jet in X-Plane. I'm really wondering what to choose as aircraft suffix.
Richard Gerrish Posted April 22, 2010 at 12:32 AM Posted April 22, 2010 at 12:32 AM what nav equipment does it have onboard? Richard Gerrish Developer, STM Applications Group
Charan Kumar Posted April 22, 2010 at 03:47 AM Posted April 22, 2010 at 03:47 AM Martin, go with /G. Xplane provides the FMC which gives lateral nav and with the latest updates, you can practically get to all waypoints in the world save a few. If it's the default Cirrus, they yes, /G. Jason Baxter 920557 Posted April 22, 2010 at 04:12 AM Posted April 22, 2010 at 04:12 AM Naviagtional equipment suffixes should represent the most sophisticated system in the aircraft that you are competent to use. The order of sophistication is non-dme, dme, area nav, area nav with terminal function, dual fms et al. With various RVSM add ons. Example: You are flying a B747, it's FMC has been refitted and you don't know how to use it, being a good pilot however you have charts with you and are able to fly using VOR and the DME, you would then file slant aplha. Charan Kumar Posted April 22, 2010 at 06:14 PM Posted April 22, 2010 at 06:14 PM Really? I was so sure it was there, not even when you scroll down the panel? It's been a while since I fired up XPlane...so I apologize for that misinfo...then you should probably use /A. I know it has a radio with DME fo sho. If I remember when I get back home, I will certainly check and let you know!!
