As part of Australia's weekly Australia Online Tuesday Flyin, we occasionally like to hit New Zealand and other areas of the South Pacific.

 

As This Tuesday is the day after the ANZAC day public holiday, it's probably a good time to visit the NZ part of that word/Acronym, so This Tuesday we head to New Zealand's Capital, Wellington.

 

Wellington is located at the south-western tip of the North Island on Cook Strait, the p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]age that separates the North and South Islands.

 

Wellington is New Zealand's political centre, and officially it's Capital City since 1865 - housing Parliament and the head offices of all Government Ministries and Departments, plus the bulk of the foreign diplomatic missions that are based in New Zealand.

 

With a latitude 41S, Wellington is the southernmost national capital city in the world. Because of its location in the roaring forties latitudes and its exposure to omnipresent winds coming through Cook Strait, the city is often known as "Windy Wellington".
