Robbie Nauffts 1045788 Posted May 14, 2010 at 07:49 PM Posted May 14, 2010 at 07:49 PM Well, thankfully I saved all of the repaints that I did, however FS9 is not loading properly. I get multiple DLL errors at start-up and then the sim crashes. If someone could zip the following .dll files from their module folder and send it to me to trouble shoot, I would appreciate it! If that doesn't work, I'll have to uninstall FS9 and install all my addons again from scratch. Last time it took me a week to get FS9 back where it was :S These are all default .dll files so you are not breaking any copyright laws .dll list CONTROLS.DLL DEMO.DLL FACILITTIES.DLL FE.DLL FLIGHT.DLL INSTRUCTOR.DLL MAIN.DLL MULTIPLAYER.DLL SYMMAP.DLL WEATHER.DLL Please drop them all in a folder and zip it. I see you typed your topic in the Computer Hardware forum, but your description doesn’t sound like a hardware issue. I believe the Software Help forum might have been more to the point. Anyway, you might not have to uninstall/reinstall FS9. Unlike FSX the FS9’s recovery feature works well. I’ve seen many occasions where it has gone flawless for various users. People also have good results in reinstalling FS9 on top of a corrupted version to retain current addons and configurations. There are other methods of fixing crashes that has worked for many. Just copying the .dll files might not be the best way to go. If you have upgraded to 9.1 then the .dll files on the disk probably won’t be compatible with your current installation. You might try deleting the line that starts with “SITUATION=” in the [userinterfance] section of the fs9.cfg file. If your default flight has problems it can cause FS9 to crash on startup. Try deleting that line then start FS9. Then save a different flight as your default flight. If that doesn’t work rename the fs9.cfg file to something else. When you start FS9 it will create a new fs9.cfg file. At present you might have to do a FS9 repair or reinstall over your current install to fix the problem with having copied the dll files if you have upgraded to FS9.1 You might still have the crashes. After this perform the fs9.cfg steps to stop the crashes. -- L. James -- L. D. Robbie Nauffts 1045788 Posted May 15, 2010 at 05:22 AM Author Posted May 15, 2010 at 05:22 AM Well I did a fresh install over top of my old folders and the sim starts, but then as soon as it should show the main menu it crashes to the desktop. I deleted the FS9.cfg file and scenery.cfg files with no luck. It looks like I may have to delete the entire folder and go from scratch again...it's going to suck reinstalling all of my aircraft. It took a week to get FS9 back to where it was last time Then the scenery... “Aviation is not inherently dangerous, but it is terribly unforgiving.”

There are still a few other things you can try such as removing all the dll files from the modules folder except for the ones with the date of the current version of FS9. You can't put them in a subfolder of modules. FS9 would still find them and try to load them. Make a subdirectory out side of the FS9 folder to store them. If this works you can bring them back a few at a time to isolate which one is causing the problem. You can also rename the Flight Simulator Files folder in the Docomeents folder to something different and let FS9 create a new one. -- L. James -- L. D. Usually the DLL messages indicate you deleted something you should not delete. I saw a guy at Avsim recently who had deleted FSUI.dll as well as FSUIPC.dll. while the second may be deleted without trouble, the first is vital. He too had a host of DLL errors at startup. This will hopefully erase/delete registry settings which "could" be one of your issues. However, before doing that, I would go with Larrys advice. - Remove all the dll files from the Modules folder apart from the stock FS9 one's. - Remove all your saved flights. - Remove all your addon Scenery Folders !! What was the last item of FS software you installed or configured before this happened ? What was the last item of Non FS software you installed or configured before this happened ? Do you get any error messages at all ? I know what a nightmare re-installing all your add-ons and scenery can be. Best of luck. Rob Rob
Robbie Nauffts 1045788 Posted May 15, 2010 at 05:40 PM Author Posted May 15, 2010 at 05:40 PM I basically went with the safe way and deleted it all. I'm just crossing hour three and have the scenery back up, now its the aircraft and I'm trying to work with just what I fly. I only lost one Canada Charters paint that I hadn't backed up yet but luckily I still have the paintkit with everything saved. “Aviation is not inherently dangerous, but it is terribly unforgiving.”
