Overscanning problem

Bought a new Gforce GTS250 and connected it via HDMI to my LG L245WP monitor but it has been

a total disaster from the moment go. The problem is overscaning and part of the desktop disappearing to the left of the screen.

Have spent the last 8 hours trying to sort out this issue and have tried out various suggestions and reg hacks and connection

via DVI-HDMI, but to-no-avail.

By the looks of it quite a number of people out there have experienced similar problem. So before I put the card away

and return it to seller I thought I'd ask you guys to see if anyone has a solution to this problem.

Feedback much appreciated.

Thanks

Best regards

Overscan (and any other similar picture deformity) is usually a purely software related issue. Returning the card back to the retailer won't help you much. Instead, you should probably try stuff like 'auto adjustment' of the screen (if the screen has such a feature), changing the resolution (if it's not the screen's native resolution) etc...

As a last resort, try uninstalling the current drivers, go into Windows SAFE MODE and use a program called "Driver Sweeper" to remove any leftover files from nVidia drivers, then back into normal windows mode, install the latest drivers obtained from the internet. That may help you clear any old leftover settings that may be causing the overscan.

P.S. Sorry if you've already tried this.

I managed to resolve the problem after reading the fix in the Nvidia Forums.

Spent so much time trying so many things I almost gave up.

Thanks for your reply Ivan.
