Andrew McCabe Posted October 18, 2005 at 10:04 PM Posted October 18, 2005 at 10:04 PM Posting partly as an apology and also as an appeal for help. Thats two nights in a row I've had a flight that has gone hunky dory until I turn onto the ILS and then Squawk Box starts to stutter to the extreme and one minute I'm looking at the rwy and them its the sky and then its "disconnect". Its soooooooooooooo frustrating. So firstly an apology to the hard working controllers who on Mon ( Essex App ) and Tues ( Man App ) worked so hard giving me vectors in what seems a busy airspace only to have me disconnect as I turned onto the ILS. My thanks to you, but I can [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ure you no one is more frustrated than me losing a flight at such a late stage. Secondly, quite why this happens defeats me. I've trawled the SB Support Forum about the dreaded SB stutter, but there doesn't seem to be a simple answer. I'm not even sure if it's just my hardware. I run an AMD 2400+ with a 128Mb GeForce 6600 graphics card and 1Mb DDR RAM. My Internet connection is 2Mb's. Not sure if thats a reasonable spec for FS2004, but offline its as smooth as a baby's, online it's also fine even in trafic and with plenty of voice activity. Its only when I approach a runway it seems to break up. Voice starts to break up then the sim just pauses and stutters until its un flyable. Any suggetions much appreciated. Norman Blackburn Posted October 18, 2005 at 10:11 PM Posted October 18, 2005 at 10:11 PM Andrew, Take a look over at www.squawkbox.ca/forum/ - there you will find a couple of polls where we try to ascertain the cause of these stutters. If you could try the suggestions and fill the poll that would help loads. Thanks, Norman

Wycliffe Barrett Posted October 24, 2005 at 10:15 AM Posted October 24, 2005 at 10:15 AM Ok I've never had SB3 stutters I do get the briefest of pauses when the weather updates but no problems similar to any that you guys have encountered. Your specs sound amazing and I'm sure that you didn't mean only 1mb of ram. I dont know what to suggest. One thing I did learn about in MSFS9 is about the framerates slider and that is to set it at unlimited. When you hav a high end pc if you set it at say 30fps your actually limiting the software. FS9 has a handy algorythm which when the fps slider is set tto unlimited it actually sorts itself out better than setting to say 30fps. Strange I know but seems to work for me. As to the other stuff I havent clue, sorry. Still getting stutter although maybe a bit more stable. I was speaking to a local "techie" at the PC store who thought it may be down to memory leakage since it seems to start after 60/90 mins of flying and when I restart the PC its OK again.
