Leg 4, and we finally leave Australian Shores and head out into Asia!

Our first truly Asian destination, Eltari Airport is a joint Civil/Military airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The airport's ICAO code was changed from WRKK to WATT in 2004 which may become a factor for FS9 users next week, or those not flying with updated navigation AIRAC data.

Kupang is located in West Timor, and was an important port and trading point during the Portuguese and Dutch colonial eras. There are ruins and remnant signs of the colonial presence in the city. The city was also an important landing and refueling place for early long distance airplane flights between Europe and Australia in the early twentieth century.

Kupang is also the first port of call for yachts in the annual Sail Indonesia rallywhich starts in Darwin towards the end of July each year.

Although no airlines service any direct flight from Darwin to Kupang, there are a number of airlines that fly to Kupang from within Indonesia. these include:

Batavia Air, Citilink, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air ,Mandala Airlines, Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Pelita Air Service & Sriwijaya Air. Most of these airlines utilize 737 or A320 aircraft to this airport.
