Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am delighted to announce the new "Green Card" Scheme being launched by VATEIR in collaboration with VATEUD. This is an extension of the Open Sky project that we've been trialling for a while now with positive results in other vACCs and having seen the benefits of this, our colleagues and friends in Ireland have also decided to implement a similar scheme. The division is delighted to see a vACC introducing policies which should benefit manning levels (and hopefully in turn, traffic levels) whilst also allowing others to sample the delights of controlling in VATEIR and we certainly would encourage other vACCs to be taking an equally proactive and "outside the box" view of vACC policy and its role in getting people online. For VATEIR though, this is really a show of good faith to their colleagues across the world, so please do take them up on this kind invitation.

This trial will take effect from 1st August 2010.

Green Card Scheme - What Is It?

VATeir’s new Green Card Scheme is a new initiative to allow controllers from any division control certain airports/positions in Ireland corresponding to the rating they hold, without the need for visiting status. With this new initiative, VATeir aims to:

• Provide a means for ALL VATSIM controllers holding at least an S2 rating to experience ATC in a different country other than their own.

• Build on the progress made by VATEUD through the Open Sky project with a fresh initiative.

What Do I Need?

To control in Ireland all you need is the following:

• A willingness to learn, and experience something new.
