Tomas Hansson Posted August 24, 2010 at 05:39 PM Posted August 24, 2010 at 05:39 PM FSACARS has nothing to do with VATSIM and each VA has its own settings. It could be one of many things that prevents you from sending your PIREP. Your best bet would be to contact your VA directly and try to get some help from them. They most likely have a forum where you can post your question or a contact address to email. Best of luck! Tomas Hansson

Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted August 24, 2010 at 07:16 PM Posted August 24, 2010 at 07:16 PM i'd try the avsim forum, might have folks with more tech experience with fsacars, [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming its nothing to do with the VA's database or access. we use it at ours aswell, usual causes are firewall/AV block and admin rights. the more frequent problem is from people trying to send in logs without having theyre flights in our booking system. our system doesnt accept any logs sent to it unless the pilot reserves/books theyre flight on our system. if your VA has something similar in theyres, make sure you are doing it correctly. i stopped using fsacars a loooong time ago. i'd recommend XACARS, it works for both Xplane and FS and much much more stable

Miguel Frias Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:09 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:09 PM FSAcars works strictly over port 80 (normal web). It uses the GET protocol to send and receive information from the VA. If you are not being able to send your log, then it probably means an error in configuration. Have you confirmed the URL to submit your flight log? Check your ".ini" file for: URL=http://www.myva.com/acars/pirep.php Log=http://www.myva.com/acars/pirep.php Also, make sure you have the correct FSAcars version (4.0.11 or 4.0.15) Miguel Frias Senior Instructor (I3) & Certified Pilot (P4), ZLA I-11 graduate Portugal vACC Training Director (ACCPT2), VATEUD Operations Director (VATEUD8) Portugal vACC, VATEUD, VATSIM
Dmetrey Taborko 1079623 Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:19 PM Author Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:19 PM Yeah its all like that. The VA even asked me to send it to them and they said its all correct... Now the version of ACARS is 1.0 but i have tried the most recent 4.0.15 version and it was the same.

Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:39 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 04:39 PM sounds like it may be server side where the error may be. we've had that before, our DB admin usually would have to go into the database and see if theres anything on the users account that would do it. normally was a quick fix. if its not that. does your VA let you fill in the fields in fsacars? or do they require you push the "flight from VA" button. for us, users always have to use the flight from VA button. if they fill in the fields themselves, the server wont take it. Miguel Frias Posted August 25, 2010 at 05:13 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 05:13 PM Two options then: client or server side: ONE -> CLIENT a) make sure you can access that URL on a browser. Type into Chrome/Firefox/IE and see if oyu can see something b) make sure your system allows you to access websites (port 80) using program "FSAcars". Check the firewall rules / antivirus rules to see that. Some worms/viruses use port 80 to communicate and therefore firewalls or antivirus programs may inhibit unknown programs (FSacars) to send data out on port 80. TWO -> SERVER Ask them if they are receiving anything in their website logs. If they see your attempt to send the log then it's their problem. Make sure you let them know the precise time when you attempt to send the PIREP so that they can look for it in the logs.
