GoFlight GF-MCP Issue - Dashed lines through displays FSX/W7

Hello everyone,

I did a search and didn't see a specific answer to my question. I've also emailed the guys over at GoFlight, but haven't received a response. Just want to get my issue in front of more eyes. I can't be the only person with this issue.

I am a long time flight simmer that dates back to the Commodore 64 days. I got really heavy into the hobby in 2001. Back in those days I ran WinXP and FS9. Life got in the way for me around 2004 and I took several years off.

I'm back and just built a new PC to run FSX on. It is a homebrew machine running Windows 7 Professional, 64bit. Like I said I'm running FSX. and have both SP1 and SP2 installed.

I have several GoFlight modules and have all working fine with exception of the GF-MCP. I'm running the latest GF Config client (1.93 build 20). The GF Config client sees the MCP so all looks good there.

I learned a long time ago the GF-MCP likes to have it's own USB connection and I'm running it direct from the PC. When FSX starts the GF-MCP has lines through the LCD windows and basically does not function at all.

I read on the GoFlight Forums about the issue being fixed by using a USB 1.1 connection. I find this a bit odd. I haven't used USB 1.1 in years and my guess is the GF-MCP was developed on USB 2.0 technology anyway. Here is the thread I'm talking about. http://www.goflightinc.com/ShowThread.aspx?ID=77

Anyway...what else am I missing??? I really miss my GF-MCP and want to get it back going.

Hi Jerry, I don't think seeing lines at the time of FSX starting is a problem. But if that remains after you load up at an airport, then you could have a problem. Also verify from the GFConfig that MCP is set to LvlD for LDS or FS Default for all others. I think the Compatible Add-on only works for a few planes, tho I can't remember which ones. I run win7-64 too, but don't know if it is plugged into USB 1.1 or 2.0, that would be a tuf job for me to follow the cable and find it

Hi Charan,

The lines through the display only appear when FS starts and runs. The lines never go away. Also as you suggested, in CFConfig it is set to FS default. It has me stumped.

The USB 1.1 versus 2.0 issue is what truly confuses me. I double checked and on my old PC it was most certainly USB 2.0 and it worked just fine. I suppose there could be differences between the USB chipset from one motherboard to another. I guess this is what I'm hoping the GoFlight guys can tell me.

Hmm...that is interesting. I do have mine plugged in through a Hub. It doesn't go directly to the machine. Maybe things are slightly different with W7. Do give it a try. I do occ[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ionally end up with those lines, but it resolves itself with a reboot or disconnect/reconnect or a change in GFConfig to something else and back to default. I have tried all those things when I got desperate to get it working too

Spoke to John at GoFlight today on the phone. He provided a few things to try. I'll do that when I get home. But the issue could just be that my MCP is 8-9 years old and just can't play well with Win 7 or 64bit OS. He did provide me some info if that is the case.
