Alfred Tang Posted September 26, 2010 at 01:48 PM Posted September 26, 2010 at 01:48 PM How long do you think it will take you to travel to an airport which is 15 miles away? The answer is at least 60 minutes. It might sound incredible but it’s true! Due to the airway structure between mainland China and Taiwan, all flights flying across the strait must follow 3 designated routes, R596, B591 and R200. It creates an interesting phenomenon that even the distance between two airports are rather short, pilots have fly quite a distance to reach the other side. So Close, So Far! VATROC and VATPRC picked Kinmen (RCBS) and Xiamen(ZSAM) as featured airports to let you experience how an island hopping route can become an international-type flight! Caution! Don’t overshoot final approach course, or you might intrude the final of another airport! Happy Landing! Date: Oct. 2, 2010 Time: 1100Z ~ 1600Z Featured Airports Kinmen Shang Yi(RCBS) Xiamen Gaoqi(ZSAM) For more information and details, please check out our event page at http://www.vatprc.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=126:so-close-so-far&catid=38&lang=en Alfred Tang (934809) Director | Hong Kong VACC
