Randy Tyndall 1087023 Posted September 27, 2010 at 01:45 AM Posted September 27, 2010 at 01:45 AM I have been flying a freeware version of the ERJ-145 that I downloaded from AVSIM, however the aircraft came with a panel that aliases to the default B737 and a sound file that aliases to the Lear45. So, I downloaded an ERJ Sound file and it works perfectly...or at least sounds different than the Lear. Can't honestly say if it sounds like an ERJ since I've never flown in one. I also downloaded an ERJ panel that looks "politically correct", but the gauges are so small I have a hard time seeing the display and changing frequencies on the miniscule radio panel (no radio icon to click) is nearly impossible. The aircraft modeler recommended an ERJ panel from FSNordic that was different from the one I was currently using. After viewing images available the panel looked far more user friendly and...well, useable, so I downloaded the FS2004 version (my platform) and updates 1 and 2. Now, when I try to load the ERJ-145 from Create a Flight, I get a never-ending warning that Flight Sim has encounteed a problem loading the ERJ.GAU file. If I understand the way this works, the XXX.GAU files are holdovers from the FS2002 days and FS2004 doesn't uses them, yet the download said it was for FS2004. Any ideas on what my problem is? Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 6, 2010 at 05:36 AM Board of Governors Posted October 6, 2010 at 05:36 AM I can't say for a certainty that I fully understand the problem or have a solution but it seems that the first step is to check the downloaded panel file and determine that there is a gauge called ERJ.GAU. If there is, make sure it got properly placed in your FS9 Gauge folder. That is the best I can offer. I have aslo found that sometimes despite your best efforts some freeware panels just will not work. Randy Tyndall 1087023 Posted October 6, 2010 at 02:49 PM Author Posted October 6, 2010 at 02:49 PM Thanks for the reply, Roger. Yes, the panel does come with the ERJ.GAU file enclosed along with specific instructions to unzip just that file into the main gauge file in FS9/Gauge folder. Everything else went to fsfsconv file under "aircraft". I did that. Still no joy. To follow up, though, I downloaded an ERJ later on that came with an installer as opposed to unzipping into a specific folder. When I ran the installer I got the warning that "ERJ.GAU already exists...do I want to overwrite?" I selected "yes" since the current version was no good in my opinion. The old ERJ I simply unzipped the panel for still doesn't work. The new one with the installer does. Part Three of the story. I tried changing the panel.cfg file in ERJ that doesn't work to the one that does using the "alias" procedure. Still no joy. But, on a positive note, I finally got my admin e-mail from FSNordic Forums so I can now post there. That's probably where I'll find my answer. Once I get my answer I will post the result here. By the way, why, you may ask, go to all this trouble when I have a functioning ERJ? The one that doesn't work looks great in the exterior view. The one that does work...not so much. Anyway, thanks for the reply, Roger. I was beginning to think no one cared. Randy Tyndall - KBOI ZLA I-11/vACC Portugal P4 “A ship is always safe in the harbor.
