Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted October 17, 2010 at 02:57 AM Posted October 17, 2010 at 02:57 AM I have the FSDT KJFK scenery. My FPS is alright(but still low) when taxiing or at the gate(before takeoff or after landing) but when I am landing, the FPS is extremely low, particularly in the critical phase just before touchdown. This makes landing quite difficult. Does anyone know of a way to improve FPS with FSDT KJFK? IS t possible to occlude buildings until after landing? Charan Kumar Posted October 17, 2010 at 06:15 AM Posted October 17, 2010 at 06:15 AM I use FSDT JFK fsx with FSL/CONC, REX OD, ASE/UTX and yes the fps shoots down but I can still make a hand flown ldg...the culprit in FSX in my experience is not just the detailed airport texture, but also the road tfc and airport vehicles...the latter which gets drawn when you get closer and so during approach will start appearing thereby killing ur FPS. If you have it at 0 already, then might have to reduce ur scenery settings When is your next Flight||VATSIM HitSquad Member, ZOA/ZAK/GANDER/P1
Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted October 17, 2010 at 06:27 AM Author Posted October 17, 2010 at 06:27 AM What is a good setting to reduce? I'm not too sure what I can reduce without can causing problems. Does anyone know a way to occlude buildings based on altitude? I think I saw something about that somewhere.
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted October 17, 2010 at 01:29 PM Posted October 17, 2010 at 01:29 PM thats normally done by the scenery dev's during the design, they specify how far out to draw them. as far as i know, its not something you can adjust on your own. i'd turn your scenery sliders down like charan mentioned, see what works best for you. usually in the FSDT manuals they also give tips on improving frame rates. Charan Kumar Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:31 PM Posted October 17, 2010 at 05:31 PM For scenery settings, there is never a one size fits all, u r gonna have to experiment. Use Nick's post on simforums as a guide, but before that backup your fsx.cfg. BTW tfc in the area can also affect fps in the last 10-15 miles, but if you get the same fps offline too, then its your scenery settings. LOD and Scenery complexity are the ones I first always try, but LOD can remove other details, so I try to work around it.
