Bradley Bill 1170885 Posted October 27, 2010 at 12:39 AM Posted October 27, 2010 at 12:39 AM Hi everyone, I have loaded the ifr flight plan from one airport to another in FSx then I have been able to fly with the GPS. Now here is my problem... some controllers ask to load a dirrerent route into the GPS. ie Simroutes. I am all for that but for the life of me I can not change the waypoints on my GPS!!! I have read all 40 pages from the FSx learning ctr on using the GPS to no avail. Can someone send me some tips to getting this done? Thanks you very much. Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted October 27, 2010 at 12:44 AM Posted October 27, 2010 at 12:44 AM I heard that vasFMC is quite good. It's a freeware flight computer that can switch between waypoints. If your simply trying to go direct, there is a button that looks like an arrow going through a circle. Press it to go direct to a waypoint. I believe there is also a leg-switching button. For a total route change, you either have to reload the flight plan or use an add-on such as vasFMC or an FMC included with an add-on. You could also navigate manually, tracking VOR radials, etc.
Jason Baxter 920557 Posted October 27, 2010 at 02:28 AM Posted October 27, 2010 at 02:28 AM You could individual D-> the waypoints. OR you can go to simroutes.com at the top go to the generate routes section, input the codified route (theres instructions on how to achieve this, generally XXX.YYY.ZZZ), generate the route and it will offer a drop-down menu to download the FP into your flights folder (save into the same folder that FS generated flightplans are saved) this will upload the GPS. Be sure to double-check the waypoints against the charts the AIRAC used on simroutes is old but generally accurate, even if the route is off the are plenty of conventional-nav SIDs that join the exit fixes were you can resume the FP.
