Mike Sweeney Posted October 28, 2010 at 03:11 AM Posted October 28, 2010 at 03:11 AM (edited) Having read the CTP FAQ's with helpful guidance about connecting in advance of TOT (Takeoff time] to allow time for IFR departure clearance, push/start and taxi, were there any other suggestions or helpful tips for pilots specific to departing CYUL. The slots list a departure every two minutes, and just interested about the plan to achieve that, especially since ATC does not have any control when an aircraft calls for their Dep Clearance. [Mod - Happy Thoughts]uming pilots obtain this between 15-30 minutes prior to TOT, will there be sequencing for the push and taxi to the runway, to coincide with the TOT's listed in the slots? or will early aircraft be sent to hold at the Parking or De-Icing Centres until closer to TOT sequence (to free up the gates)?, or some other way to get aircraft lined up in sequence for TOT departure slots? Or will it be a first come, first served approach to the departure sequence, irrespective of the listed TOT's? Two minutes between departures, in a specific order, is an interesting challenge at CYUL. Looking forward to seeing CYUL's best controllers on DEL and GND, two very demanding ATC positions with such high volume. Thanks in advance for sharing any pilot tips on what the plan is at CYUL for departing aircraft on Saturday, 30 October. ... and more importantly, have FUN! Anthony Belliveau 924281 Posted October 28, 2010 at 06:20 PM Posted October 28, 2010 at 06:20 PM Hello Mike, very interesting point that you came up with! I will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume Apron and Ground activities at Montreal airport and I already have my plan to make sure every departures takes off at their respected TOTs. Yes we will use holding points on the apron and the de-icing facility to manage the flow of traffic that day. It will NOT be as a first come first serve thing. If you want to depart from the gate early sure, but you will hold somewhere until 2-3 minutes before TOT. As soon that a plane have received ATC clx, the DEL controller will put a comment on the strip and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts] it to me (GND). I will then look up the TOT list and make the order in the strip bay. Aircrafts arriving to the TWR controller will already be sequenced and ready to go. If you have more question, please do ask. I will do my best to respond.
