Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:08 AM Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:08 AM I've been trying to fly some of the default FSX helicopters, and I have a strange problem. Either shortly after I takeoff, or after I land once, the engine becomes unable to provide power or RPM goes too low and I am unable to restart. I have no idea what's causing this, any ideas. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:14 AM Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:14 AM if you havent already, go through the tutorials at hovercontrol www.hovercontrol.com itll help you lots trying to fly the heli's one thing to remember, you have to give those blades enough time to rev up to speed, not to mention you gotta watch the torque and rpms
Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:16 AM Author Posted November 4, 2010 at 02:16 AM Yup, I know. What seems to happen is that when I land, the engine and rotor rpms both drop to around 30 or 40 and it's impossible to takeoff again. It also seems impossible to restart the engine, even with ctrl-e.
Stephen Richey 985064 Posted November 4, 2010 at 04:28 AM Posted November 4, 2010 at 04:28 AM I've had a similar problem (only not on landing) with both the helicopters and the P-51. The engine will fail shortly after liftoff and the helicopter plummets like a rock. Make sure there are no "failures" selected. For some reason, it seems like these aircraft are prone to automatically loading with failures activated. ZLA Pilot Cert I-
Charan Kumar Posted November 4, 2010 at 06:54 PM Posted November 4, 2010 at 06:54 PM I forget which, but I am gonna say prop adjustment is needed to maintain the RPM. Remember, you can't sometimes use full throttle or prop (RPM) as it tends to run out of RPM for whatever reason (i know nothing about helos than the ones I fly here). So the balance is needed to maintain it as for as the sim goes. Hovercontrol helos are pretty good too, although I have not successfully flown one yet from origin to destination When is your next Flight||VATSIM HitSquad Member, ZOA/ZAK/GANDER/P1
Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted November 4, 2010 at 08:11 PM Author Posted November 4, 2010 at 08:11 PM Checked failures and it turned out that after I landed, the engine was becoming failed. I suspect this may be FSX simulating the result of a rotor hitting the ground.
