Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted December 27, 2010 at 06:14 PM Posted December 27, 2010 at 06:14 PM I have never overclocked anything in my entire life. Never. I'd like to increase my computer's performance, especially in FSX by overclocking my Phenom II X2 3.1Ghz Black Edition processor. I have a Gigabyte GA-MA780G-UD3H processor and the BIOS is the Award Modular Bios 6.0PG. Any tips or instructions? I'd rather not fry my PC, so I'd like some advice. Abdelrahman M. Elfeky 1044 Posted December 28, 2010 at 06:06 AM Posted December 28, 2010 at 06:06 AM Hello, 1- Make sure you update your BIOS , newer versions are always helpful and more stable than already installed. 2- Don't aggressively over-clock , as your MoB is value level and doesn't provide much cooling for your electricity circuit as much higher-end models. Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted December 28, 2010 at 06:34 AM Author Posted December 28, 2010 at 06:34 AM Thanks for the advice, I managed a 3.4Ghz overclock, which resulted in greatly improved performance. Any more resulted in instability though.

Darrol Larrok 1140797 Posted December 28, 2010 at 08:31 AM Author Posted December 28, 2010 at 08:31 AM Stock, along with a large after market case fan(don't remember the exact size, eyeballing it looks like 2.75-3 inches diameter). My computer is a disaster as far as cooling is concerned, nonexistent cable management, etc. But luckily, Phenom IIs appear to be quite good at handling high temps, so it looks I'm good

My computer is a disaster as far as cooling is concerned, nonexistent cable management, etc. But luckily, Phenom IIs appear to be quite good at handling high temps, so it looks I'm good Every CPU needs cooling , just like every human need air! Not quite sure which area you are living in , but you can find a medium size cooler anywhere and still get some cooling out of your case. If you can also get some cable management to be done , this will get you some extra temps. This is a small review of your CPU Couple of coolers I do recommend for you: OCZ vendetta 2 CM Hyper 212 Both of them sells below 40$ and perform very well for their price Regards,,,
