Alistair Thomson Posted January 18, 2011 at 10:27 PM Posted January 18, 2011 at 10:27 PM I don't know where else to post this, so sorry if it's OT. I recently installed scenery for Moncton Airfield, New Brunswick Canada, which upgrades the default to show Area VIII where the de-icing is located. Trouble is that as soon as I enter that area, the PA28 I'm using just sticks to the ground like glue. I did some tests. Elsewhere on the field, where the default scenery is in place, I'll get the a/c rolling slowly at 1100RPM as usual, and accelerating at 1200RPM (both of which are, of course, way too high compared to RW, but there you go). But in Area VIII, I need 1600RPM to just inch forward, and if I try to apply rudder for a turn, I need significantly more power than that. And as soon as I'm moving, if I reduce power to maintain, the a/c just stops. This is not as complaint about the scenery, but a request to get some clue about where to look to install a fix. Clearly this is about ground friction settings. Any help would be appreciated. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted January 18, 2011 at 10:41 PM Posted January 18, 2011 at 10:41 PM probably something in the afcad itself. whos the designer, if theres an email, send a contact
tom van der elst Posted January 18, 2011 at 11:52 PM Posted January 18, 2011 at 11:52 PM Probably means the afcad is dirt i.e the surface is dirt. That happens at several other airfields.
Alistair Thomson Posted January 19, 2011 at 12:46 AM Author Posted January 19, 2011 at 12:46 AM OK, so it's probably the AFCAD. I'm guessing that the outfield conditions for the default scenery are set to mud, and the designer of this Moncton scenery hasn't modified that. Does that indicate that changes are required to the bfg files? Or something else? I know that AFCAD is a program, but what does it affect? tom van der elst Posted January 19, 2011 at 01:56 AM Posted January 19, 2011 at 01:56 AM Afcad affects nothing in itself, only if you want it to. It can be used to set runway/taxiway parameters, add localizers/define their location, add/remove gates etc. Among other things it can also set the surface for runways and taxiways, and your description of the problem leads me to believe it is a fault in the afcad surface i.e it is set to dirt or bitumen which both can describe the effect you are describing. Solution could be to see if an AF2 file is present then open it with afcad and see what the surface is like. Then again it could also be that no afcad is present and then you might have the same problem, and since the Craig Mosher scenery is a portover from FS2002 that might be the issue. I'd say check Avsim for an afcad file for that scenery and see if that fixes it. If not, the other options are still there. If it is the Craig Mosher scenery, an afcad file is available here http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=58791 Tom.
