Sebastien Bartosz Posted January 23, 2011 at 08:35 PM Posted January 23, 2011 at 08:35 PM Hi there, I'm using ACSIM (not TWRTrainer etc.), and I would like to know how do I control the aircraft on the ground for the student? Or are ground movements impossible with ACSIM, and need something else? Regards, New York ARTCC
Ross Carlson Posted January 23, 2011 at 09:16 PM Posted January 23, 2011 at 09:16 PM Ground movements are not possible with ACSim. You'll need to use TWRTrainer or Euroscope. Miguel Frias Posted January 24, 2011 at 03:14 PM Posted January 24, 2011 at 03:14 PM You can move them in a straight line but it's too much work when you're overwhelmed yourself with the traffic. An unrealistic. Sebastien, use Euroscope. With that, it's just like the "real" thing. Want to do a LFFF_CTR Sweatbox, ei? Sebastien Bartosz Posted January 24, 2011 at 04:30 PM Author Posted January 24, 2011 at 04:30 PM Haha^^ Actually Miguel, I'll be doing the mentor this time, so nope, not on LFFF I guess I'll just have to use ES for mentoring then^^ New York ARTCC
Miguel Frias Posted January 24, 2011 at 04:33 PM Posted January 24, 2011 at 04:33 PM Actually, doing mentoring sweatbox is quite good for the mentor as well, to train on heavy-load situations. Even when I'm mentoring in GND / TWR, I have to put aircraft on ILS, simulate go arounds, readback clearances, perform correct taxi (or deliberate incorrect). So I actually think it's more work on me than on the trainee You can also split the task with another controller (S3+) who can log in as well and act as a bunch of other pilots so that it's not too much at the same time and also to help you keep your voice at the end of the session Miguel Frias Senior Instructor (I3) & Certified Pilot (P4), ZLA I-11 graduate Portugal vACC Training Director (ACCPT2), VATEUD Operations Director (VATEUD8) Portugal vACC, VATEUD, VATSIM
Sebastien Bartosz Posted January 24, 2011 at 06:29 PM Author Posted January 24, 2011 at 06:29 PM Whats ports do I need to open for ES? VRC ? Thanks, New York ARTCC
Miguel Frias Posted January 24, 2011 at 08:26 PM Posted January 24, 2011 at 08:26 PM VRC wouldn't know. Euroscope doesn't need any. The only ports needed are for the regular intercom which seem to be UDP/TCP: 3291 and/or 6811. Michael Pike Posted January 25, 2011 at 10:20 PM Posted January 25, 2011 at 10:20 PM Make sure you connect to "Start Sweatbox simulator session". And your student connects to Sweatbox. Mike Pike VATSIM-UK
