Hi friends,

I'm having an issue with my ESE.

I am unable to get the sectorlines to illuminate when I (CZWG_CTR) is online and my southern neighbours are.

Here is my position:

CZWG_CTR:Winnipeg Centre:124.000:WGC:WC:CZWG:CTR:-:-:0600:0677:N048.49.30.000:W091.34.42.000:N055.13.18.000:W085.00.00.000:N050.17.48.000:W107.41.30.000:N051.15.48.000:W102.28.06.000

Here are my neighbour's position ... any one of these may be in use at any one given time: (they will log in as SLC-X-CTR)

KZLC_CTR:Salt Lake North Centre:128.050:LCN:LN:SLC:N_CTR:-:-:-:-:-:-
KZLC_CTR:Salt Lake South Centre:133.600:LCS:LS:SLC:S_CTR:-:-:-:-:-:-
KZLC_CTR:Salt Lake Events Centre:128.550:LCE:LE:SLC:E_CTR:-:-:-:-:-:-
KZLC_CTR:Salt Lake Events2 Centre:127.750:LCE2:LE2:SLC:E2_CTR:-:-:-:-:-:-

And here is the sectorline definition: (my [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umption is

SECTORLINE:E12 ;Broadview/KZLC (Salt Lake)

Where am I going wrong?

You forgot to show SECTOR part of the code for the neighbouring sectors. You do have them right?

Might want to look at what you name in the "DISPLAY" line...they are based off "The Sector Subsection" http://www.euroscope.hu/mediawiki/index.php?title=ESE_Files_Description

And Also what Todor said about defining your neighbors sectors..

OK ... thanks fellows,

SECTOR:KZLC_CTR:0:60000
OWNER:LCN:LCS:LCE:LCE2
Border:E12:KZLCGW

This is the corrected sector code, my original only had LCN as the owner. I added LCS, LCE, LCE2. Not sure if that was the mistake or not, I can't check it until one of those controllers come online.

Since the Sectorline component refers to sectors, I've had to ammend my Sectorline definition for E12 ...

SECTORLINE:E12 ;Broadview/KZLC (Salt Lake)
DISPLAY:ZWG_BR_CTR:ZWG_BR_CTR:KZLC_CTR
DISPLAY:ZWG_CTR:ZWG_CTR:KZLC_CTR
COORD:N049.00.00.000:W103.10.00.000
COORD:N048.59.48.990:W100.41.22.210
COORD:N048.59.45.319:W101.40.36.014
COORD:N049.00.00.000:W103.10.00.000
COORD:N048.59.49.320:W103.15.25.320
COORD:N048.59.49.670:W104.20.50.950
COORD:N048.59.54.640:W106.18.12.360
COORD:N048.59.45.860:W107.43.12.350
COORD:N048.59.58.773:W110.00.18.410

I changed the DISPLAY to reflect the sector definition KZLC_CTR rather than the positions I had initially?

I think I understand now this sectorline E12 will illuminate when sector ZWG_BR_CTR is manned AND sector KZLC_CTR is manned; OR when wider range sector ZWG_CTR is manned AND sector KZLC_CTR is manned?

Thoughts? I get so confused as to how all these sections rely on each other. But, I think I'm learning.

DISPLAY:.....ZWG_BR_CTR:.......ZWG_BR_CTR:.......KZLC_CTR

Just want to make sure you have this down when writing the above line:

I'm logged is as..."ZWG_BR_CTR" show me a line when....."ZWG_BR_CTR" and "KZLC_CTR" are logged in. etc...this is a lengthy process because you have to name all instances of the specific sectorline being shown...if you want tower to see it, then you have add more display lines identifying it...and so forth.

OK let me explain it how it should work:

1. You have section POSITION, where you define VATSIM position, in your case"

Centre:124.000:WGC:WC:CZWG:CTR:-:-:0600:0677:N048.49.30.000:W091.34.42.000:N055.13.18.000:W085.00.00.000:N050.17.48.000:W107.41.30.000:N051.15.48.000:W102.28.06.000

The most important thing here (for the problem you are having that is ) is this : WGC, it will be used later in the building of a physical sector.

2. You have SECTORLINE section, where you define lines, with which you can create physical sectors. In your case:

SECTORLINE:E12 ;Broadview/KZLC (Salt Lake)
DISPLAY:ZWG_CTR:ZWG_CTR:SLC_N_CTR...

Now this means that this line will be highlighted when: Sector ZWG_CTR is is me, ZWG_CTR is online (so I'm online) and when SLC_N_CTR is online. You can define as much DISPLAY conditions as you like. All these are physical sectors build in the SECTORS section, these are not VATSIM positions.

3. You have section SECTORS, where you build the physical sectors based on the sectorlines and the VATSIM position. In your case

SECTOR:ZWG_CTR:0:60000
OWNER:WGC
Border:E12 (and every other line you need to close it)

(-yes one sector can be defined with a single line, but it has to make full "circle" to close the polygon)

Now the logic:

in this line OWNER:WGC you put last the sector which will be the top most sector. So if you are building a TWR sector, you will enter the VATSIM positions in this order - TWR:APP:ACC

..., I can't check it until one of those controllers come online.

Just to add here: You can use a sim session where you add the other controllers to the situation and set yourself's primary frequency. This simulates prefectly the behaviour as if you 2 were online.
