It's time again for the annual VPTAR...this year to be held at FAMM Mafikeng. 26 - 29th May 2011

I know this topic is being posted rather late and it doesn't leave anyone that want to enter much time for planning but I beg your forgiveness for that

We would really like to invite anyone interested in entering for the VPTAR to contact the Secretary of the VSFL ASAP as the cut off date is basically end of February but we will be able to accommodate late entries. The cut off date is more for logistical reasons at the airfield regarding camping spots and guest house accommodation than anything else.

We have a full practice program leading up to the event. All the details can be viewed at http://www.sport.aeroworxsa.co.za

Please take note that only X-Plane is recommended as photo real scenery will be available for official entrants of the event and that there will not be time to build scenery files for other simulators.

The scenery is compiled for the Virtual Sport Flying League for a specific race or competition and will only be installed to X-Plane on-site prior to the race.

The members of the VSFL have chosen X-Plane as the prime flight simulation software, one reason being the ability of X-Plane to load extremely detailed 'background' tiles without a performance hit. MSFS will not run this type of scenery. A typical race scenery installation will be about 32 - 48 Gb.

One can buy the aerial photographs from National Geo-Spatial Information (NGI). Using the SDK, you will be able to do your own scenery according to the copyright restrictions.

In short, it is race specific scenery that will uninstall after the race.
