FOLKS LISTEN!!!! =)

Ok, I now have your attention, the VATUSA convention is approaching soon and we are looking for some people that would be interested in presenting at the event. Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]es will be held Saturday morning and I'm in need of about 5 or 6 people that are interested in giving about a 30-45 min cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] on various topics.

Letters of interest can be sent to me at jeff(at)vatusaconvention.com

How about this:

Presenter: Ian Elchitz

Time: 130 - 230

Location: East Boardroom

Topic: How to fly in my airspace without pissing me off !

Synopsis: Senior Controller Ian Elchitz from ZLA provides pilots with an overview of how to successfully conduct flight operations while he is controlling without pissing him off. Discussion includes:

- How to stay at the altitude you were [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned

- How to not make a right turn direct Dagget when departing KLAX

- Why you keep missing the localizer at 280 knots

- Why the radio is no place for CB talk such as “10-4â€

- Why you don’t need to check in with your location, altitude, destination, aircraft type, registration number, shoe size, and your mother’s favorite flowers when I’m already tracking 20 targets

Man I love that one

I thought you were actually serious until I read the last line!!!

Hey I just thought of something (took me three posts but I got it )

For those of us who can't come to the convention, would it be possible to tape the presntations, put them in a ZIP file and let everybody download them? Live streaming would be pretty cool, but I'm sure that would be alot of trouble.

Get CNN involved and we'll have piece-of-[Mod - lovely stuff] live "videophone" feed!

Mark Barnette would be the person to ask about the streaming video, although it sounds pretty cool...

I would think that since Chicago O'Hare Airport is right next door, someone would arrange for a aircraft viewing activity. I'm sure I would be more inclined to take part in this than a cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts].

How about another event where we all go into downtown Chicago?

Best,

Chris

Thanks Chris, Mark Z has already stated that he's working a field tour of KORD, not sure where we are on that, but, I'm guessing that you'll have some pretty good viewing activity there... The presentors I'm looking for is for the morning of Saturday.

There will be plenty going on Sat afternoon and evening... I'm working the agenda now and should have it done fairly soon I hope.

Don't forget Midway to...you can get really close to the runway's there since it's wedged in.

If I could find someone working for the City of Chicago that returns a phone call, we'd be in business on the tour. Right now we're still slated to offer two exclusive opportunities besides the tour of ORD, but the details for those will only be availble to those that sign up

I've gotten a lot of mish mashed answers, simply because we are so far away from the date that many people that offer tours have not been able to commit that far into the future.

Is there a parking garage that is close to all the action that you can observe from?

I hear Midway is in a rough neighborhood! But It might be a cool field trip.

Hi Chris,

Actually, Midway is located in a "Blue Collar", middle cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] area. Lotta Chicago cops and firemen live around there.

Having the runway in sight just at TDZE + 100 is like Mom, Warm cookies and milk, and Christmas morning, all wrapped into one.
