Nick Ullom 1041939 Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:18 PM Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:18 PM Hey folks, Is there a software that we can have that we use to contact clearance delivery so it's basically done in a second? (close) instead of waiting for a controller to respond? I talked with one controller last year in JFK during CTP westbound and he talked to me about it and now I forgot what it is? I think its for ground as well? Thanks, Nick
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:25 PM Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:25 PM you mean ACARS? its not automatic. no such automatic program exists with live controllers. what you may be confusing it with is pre departure clearances. in this case, the clearance is given ahead of time, online usually by email or event notice/registration, all you do is check in and you are given your squawk
Nick Ullom 1041939 Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:30 PM Author Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:30 PM No not ACARS (maybe?), well to explain a bit better, I was waiting for my clearance last fall, it was way past my TOT, so i checked this one frequency and asked for clearance since there were multiple, and the controller said i needed this one software thing. it sends it right away and he clicks and then i receive it back and off i go, basically. a bit better? Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:34 PM Posted March 1, 2011 at 06:34 PM yea thats Hoppies Acars system. its not automatic tho and not all controllers use it. it still requires action from a controller, its not automated http://www.hoppie.nl/acars/ controllers that use it will indicate ACARS is available in their controller info
