Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center, in cooperation with the Fort Worth and Houston Air Route Traffic Control Centers, is proud to present the first annual "West Texas Roundup" occurring on Saturday, December 10th, 2005 at 2100z (1:00pm/2:00pm/3:00pm/4:00pm PST/MST/CST/EST).

Albuquerque, NM -- November 22, 2005 -- After months of planning, ZAB, ZFW, and ZHU ARTCCs are excited to invite people of all ages and abilities to join an adventure in the wild west! ZAB, ZFW, and ZHU would like to invite all members of VATSIM to join a wonderful joint event featuring 4 airports, 3 ARTCCs, and 1 community.

 

El Paso, TX (KELP), Amarillo, TX (KAMA), Midland/Odessa, TX (KMAF), and San Antonio, TX (KSAT), as well as many other airports within ZAB, ZFW, and ZHU airspace will be fully staffed, including en route air traffic services throughout the ARTCCs.

Flew from KDFW to KELP today. The ATC was first-rate all the way, and radio chatter was awesome. Tried to make the return flight to DFW but got disconnected about 20 minutes into to flight, and after trying to reconnect several times FS9 just crashed on me. This was my first VATSIM event since I tried one out of JFK with the previous version of Squawkbox. On that one I was getting 1-2 FPS during taxi, and ended up aborting the flight. I pretty much dropped of VATSIM until SB3 was released, and it seems to a lot better FPS-wise with more traffic. Looking forward to the next event!

Flew from KSAT-KELP with company traffic. Excellent job all pilots and ATC. First cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] all the way, had a great time. ATC did an exceptional job keeping all the traffic properly spaced while enroute. It was a really good idea flying to differerent airports in Texas, it should be done in other areas too. Keep up the good work everyone.
