Matt Benson 1074651 Posted March 21, 2011 at 03:34 AM Posted March 21, 2011 at 03:34 AM Hello Captains, so I've upgraded to FSX recently. I have experience installing additional planes, textures, etc. but with FS9. One problem I've had in FSX is missing textures for add ons (that is, the textures are installed but don't appear on the plane models in FSX). I've noticed that many planes, like the POSKY 757, or anything that isn't made for the default aircraft, are missing a cfg file in the texture folder that the working models will have. My POSKY 757, and the Dash 8 for example have textures only but no config file. What do I do to get these textures to appear on the models? If the models have been updated for FSX, why don't the authors include the files needed? I'm guessing this problem might be limited by something on my end, otherwise the authors would give some indication of what's needed. What am I missing? Thanks! >Matt
Wycliffe Barrett Posted March 21, 2011 at 08:47 AM Posted March 21, 2011 at 08:47 AM matt It would be helpful if you provided a little more infromation such as system spec os and which addons. I have a sneaky suspicion about this problem, directx10 is known to cause some issues with particular addons with missing textures. Have you got directx10 preview turned on if so uncheck and see if that makes a difference. Matt Benson 1074651 Posted March 21, 2011 at 04:31 PM Author Posted March 21, 2011 at 04:31 PM Ah yes of course, I forgot a few details there. I'm using FSX SP2 with Windows 7. It's not specific to any one add on, although one of my favorites is the POSKY 757 pack updated for FSX, and it doesn't show the textures. I tried a different 757 model last night and got the same results. I will try your suggestion now, and post the results here. Thanks a bunch! Before I got to make this fix though, FSX decided to crash with a fatal error each time I tried to view the Free Flights tab. I was flying Missions last night so I would start up FSX under that tab. I noticed if I chose "go to briefing" before clicking the Free Flights tab, it wouldn't crash. This stuff just boggles my mind. Thanks again!
