Xavier Van Nieuwenhuyse 81 Posted December 12, 2004 at 11:11 AM Posted December 12, 2004 at 11:11 AM To what server/voiceroom did you try to connect to? Did you try: rw.avsim.net/UNICOM ? Xavier Van Nieuwenhuyse
Steven Rogers 901202 Posted December 12, 2004 at 11:13 AM Author Posted December 12, 2004 at 11:13 AM It was rw1.vatpac.org/unicom but I also tried avsim and neither worked. Tried it with rw1.vatpac.org/mel_twr, but didn't work either.

Matt Stagg 900323 Posted December 12, 2004 at 12:37 PM Posted December 12, 2004 at 12:37 PM Hey Steve Great to see another Aussie coming in up into our skies!!! OK whats the authintication or what ever it is server you are connecting with???? you might have to download a update for that because some of them may be out of date and since my microphone has been broken for a while I can't remember which one I chose lol I think it was the asia one. there is a Oceania IP update some where but I am not sure. Make sure that you are connected to the VATSIM servers through SB correctly. Make sure your callsign is the very same as you are connected to VATSIM with. Make sure that your Pilot ID & P[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word are correct. you are right about the servers rw1.vatpac.org but unicom i think is rw1.vatpac.org/UNICOM but I think it don't matter lol. mel_twr is actually ML_TWR. If none of them work I don't what else to do!!! but one of them should do the trick! my guess it is prob the authintication or what ever it is thing lol. cya up in the skies in Australia! Also try and get all your mates connected as well more people in Australia the funner it becomes Cheers, Matt Stagg Boeing 737NG Pilot VOZ Virtual

Lennart Vedin Posted December 13, 2004 at 01:32 AM Posted December 13, 2004 at 01:32 AM Just adding some ideas of firewall port. Here is all information I have about ports: I can't say for sure what port need to open, but following is as I use, and it works for me. In summary all opened ports for Squawkbox, SBRelay and AVC, I myself have open: TCP and UDP, 6809. TCP and UDP, 6703. UDP, 1900. UDP, 6073. UDP, 23456. UDP, 3290. UDP, 3782. I have read existing docomeents as following: " Vatsim doc say: 6809 - for Squawkbox TCP/UDP 6703 for SBRelay (if Used) TCP/UDP 1900/6073/23456 for Direct Play UDP In addition the AVC support write about: UDP port 3290 and 3782. http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/sbrelay/help.html If you have a router or firewall, try forwarding the following ports to your PC's internal IP address (see above for help locating your PC's internal IP, see your router or firewall's manual for help with forwarding ports): * TCP 47624 * UDP 2300 to 2400 * UDP 6073 " In Addition to this chocolatesoftware.com/sbrelay, I recommend not to set DMZ (DeMillitaryZone), how I understand, it open all ports for one computer in a router. / Lennart Vedin /

Steven Rogers 901202 Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:01 AM Author Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:01 AM I think so Either XP or one built into my modem I think it's fixed ie. it never changes
Lennart Vedin Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:06 AM Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:06 AM If you not have a router, and only one computer connected, then recommended: Get the firewall application "Zoon Alarm" recommended by Vatsim docomeantation (I think it's free). Disable the Modem firewall if present. Disable the XP firewall (never heard it work good for Vatsim or maybe not at all). > Either XP or one built into my modem Just, if you mean firewall, then how do you know you have opened required ports if you not sure what firewall you have. / Lennart Vedin /

Lennart Vedin Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:20 AM Posted December 13, 2004 at 02:20 AM > I heard zone alarm was no good by quite a few people here. A lot had problem before update a later version. (serch forum) > and i know how to open ports but not the type of firewall Somehow I don't understand you. If the XP built in firewall it's not disabled, you can have problem to connect proper. If you have a firewall in the Modem, it might work good, do you know what Modem it is, and if firewall is built in and enabled ? Is it a multi-modem for more than one computer ? In multi-modem it's common to name "Virtual Server" to use and NOT the name "firewall", to open such required ports.
