Kirk Christie Posted April 8, 2011 at 08:51 AM Posted April 8, 2011 at 08:51 AM Yesterday i spent some time adding and fixing some routes on the database the AIRAC was 1103, today there is a new AIRAC 1104, I went to look at my booked flight with the route that i added yesterday and it was showing up all the old routes pre me fixing them. So i change my database back to 1103, and there was my route. As a 5 star member i have added alot of routes over time, including editing all the ones into YBMC when they changed ICAO to YBSU Does that mean, and i hope the answer is no, that the routes i added in previous cycles will not show with the current cycles? Michal Rok Posted April 8, 2011 at 09:16 AM Posted April 8, 2011 at 09:16 AM Kirk, Booked flights are linked to a route as it was the moment you booked. Past bookings are not updated with cycle changes. As to copying between cycles, all new routes are copied to all other cycles provided they are valid in that cycle. So as long as your 1103 routes are valid in 1104 they will show up there. Note that this process takes a few hours, so don't expect immediate visibility. Changes to routes on the other hand are not copied, so if you change a route in 0911 it will remain unchanged in 1104. This is why we do not permit changes to recently valid cycles (I.e. 1103 which just expired) as such changes would be lost very soon. Hope this explanation helps. Let me know any other questions you might have. Michał vroute.net founder
Kirk Christie Posted April 9, 2011 at 07:23 AM Author Posted April 9, 2011 at 07:23 AM Ok thanks Michal. I also ran a search on the same city pair in 1103 and 1104, and the routes offered were different. Biased on that is it better to delete routes and add new ones, vs editing them? Michal Rok Posted April 9, 2011 at 09:31 AM Posted April 9, 2011 at 09:31 AM Kirk, I explained above how the system works. If you see different routes between 1103 and 1104 there are two possibilities: - somebody sent a change/delete request to 1104 version of your route - the route was only valid in one cycle so it was not copied to the other Since I have no details of what routes you were looking at, I cannot tell which was the case. You can though (at least with the 2nd option) - check your 1103 route to see if it is valid in 1104. Michal vroute.net founder
