On the VATSIM Germany forum, the author of the website said that it went down due to an outage at the hosting agency, but will remain offline as he does no longer fly on VATSIM and he doesn't want to run it any longer.

We have tried asking about the source to re-launch it, but the author does not want to release it.

TL;DR

vat:tk has been taken offline permanently

Maybe something that will cheer you up:

Dear Community,

Oliver Biermann and I have discussed the situation here and decided to create a vat:tk successor from scratch, as Tobias will not be sharing his source code with the world, which we respect.

A server has been setup and we will commence our work this week, as we have just split up the TODO between the two of us.

Sounds like Vaporware, why announce if nothing has been done yet?

We wanted to simply state that we are starting to develop, in case other developers have had the same idea or want to offer their help in our project. There would be no benefit to VATSIM and the community if two independent groups started to create websites that have the same functionality. We would kindly ask other devs to contact us, so we can coordinate or join resources.

Our functionality list until the first BETA release looks like this, at the time of posting:

1) Runway Manager (calc wind components and recommend runway)

2) Airline / Airport search via ICAO / name

In case you have any question or would like to offer your help, simply shoot an email to:

oliver [dott] biermann [ät] edll-fir [dott] de

or

adam [dott] trzcinski [ät] edll-fir [dott] de

if not even both of us!

We'll be back with updates from time to time.

Yours

Adam/Olli
