Ben Sargeaunt-Thomson 8348 Posted May 12, 2011 at 04:22 PM Posted May 12, 2011 at 04:22 PM Hi guys, I have hit the forums + google to try and resolve this issue first, but have hit a dead end. Server PC has XP with FSX Service pack 2 installed. Simconnect is installed, and programs can connect to it locally (I tried AItraffic, its fine) Client PC runs Windows 7. I can not get the SDK to run without getting a side by side error, Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\Samples\AI Traffic\AI Traffic.exe". Dependent [Mod - Happy Thoughts]embly Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b",type="win32",version="10.0.61259.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. I have tried installing FSX on that machine, and simconnect still wont run locally on that machine. I have reg cleaned as suggested on one forum as a solution..... there are files in the winsxs folder that I can't get rid of...... Has anyone got any ideas? Cheers, Ben
Norman Blackburn Posted May 12, 2011 at 04:52 PM Posted May 12, 2011 at 04:52 PM Not so good news Ben. Side by Side errors like this only ever seem to go away by starting with a fresh system. Norman

Stephen Cotterill 1016107 Posted May 13, 2011 at 07:26 AM Posted May 13, 2011 at 07:26 AM Most of these errors are [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociated with an incomplete install of a Windows up-date [Net framework/VC++ etc] Some have been able to fix the issue by Uninstalling the effected software Uninstalling the up-dates Then reinstalling the software / testing and then if ok installing the up-dates again. A tad long winded with no real guarantee that she will work so Format C: is usually worthwhile anyway. Steve
Ben Sargeaunt-Thomson 8348 Posted May 13, 2011 at 03:38 PM Author Posted May 13, 2011 at 03:38 PM Today, 3 complete re formats, installed every update I could find..... Same error..... Still this side by side issue. Can't even roll back the PC to XP due to a hard drive driver issue...... Well this has become very long winded, widefs can be up and running in mins, but squawk box and active sky both need sim connect..... What a pain..... Oh well.... Might go and get a cheap XP machine tomorrow.....
