about 30 min into a flight on vatsim my flightsim goes black and i can't see anything. this has happened numerous times. this is very frustrating for me (and the controllers too i [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume). When i open the task manager to see if it is frozen, it says that flight sim is running fine, making it even more frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Heres what i'm running

Windows XP

Homebuilt Computer

Processor: AMD Athlon 2100 XP

ram: 512 GB

video card: ATI Radeon 9200

running FS9

I'm wondering if you were disconnected from the network, because I know VATSIM will disconnect if you're idle for too long...

When a Supervisor disconnects you from the network for inactivity, you'll know it. That won't cause your flightsim screen to go black either.

William - are you running with the latest drivers? I know that buggy drivers can cause all sorts of problems. I don't know if it'll help, but it's something to try. Goodluck!

Have you tried doing a clean boot before starting FS9? I had a similar problem and it took 2 minutes to fix it once I learned the procedure.

I once had a similar problem when I upgraded my video card. It turned out that my power supply was not sufficient to power the new card, and maintain other computer functions. My solution was to upgrade my power supply, which was a bit tricky, because it was a Dell, and they used proprietary connectors for the mother board. After a few phone calls I found out where to get the proper adapter for my new power supply and all worked well after that.
