William Ross 949458 Posted December 3, 2005 at 06:39 PM Posted December 3, 2005 at 06:39 PM about 30 min into a flight on vatsim my flightsim goes black and i can't see anything. this has happened numerous times. this is very frustrating for me (and the controllers too i [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume). When i open the task manager to see if it is frozen, it says that flight sim is running fine, making it even more frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Heres what i'm running Windows XP Homebuilt Computer Processor: AMD Athlon 2100 XP ram: 512 GB video card: ATI Radeon 9200 running FS9
Brian Teh 945968 Posted December 4, 2005 at 04:54 PM Posted December 4, 2005 at 04:54 PM I'm wondering if you were disconnected from the network, because I know VATSIM will disconnect if you're idle for too long... http://usa-w.vatsim.net/prc/VPTPublic/RR/SectionV.htm
Bryan Wollenberg 810243 Posted December 4, 2005 at 07:49 PM Posted December 4, 2005 at 07:49 PM When a Supervisor disconnects you from the network for inactivity, you'll know it. That won't cause your flightsim screen to go black either. Bryan Wollenberg ZLA!
Brian Teh 945968 Posted December 5, 2005 at 07:42 PM Posted December 5, 2005 at 07:42 PM William - are you running with the latest drivers? I know that buggy drivers can cause all sorts of problems. I don't know if it'll help, but it's something to try. Goodluck!
Curtis Bauer 951462 Posted December 10, 2005 at 06:09 AM Posted December 10, 2005 at 06:09 AM Have you tried doing a clean boot before starting FS9? I had a similar problem and it took 2 minutes to fix it once I learned the procedure.
Craig Moulton Posted December 10, 2005 at 07:13 PM Posted December 10, 2005 at 07:13 PM I once had a similar problem when I upgraded my video card. It turned out that my power supply was not sufficient to power the new card, and maintain other computer functions. My solution was to upgrade my power supply, which was a bit tricky, because it was a Dell, and they used proprietary connectors for the mother board. After a few phone calls I found out where to get the proper adapter for my new power supply and all worked well after that. Fly Safe! Have Fun!
