Hi, I just moved from FS2002 to FS2004. How do I create flightplans waypoint by waypoint as it is necessary on vatsim? I had a nice Garmin for FS2002 but it doesn't work in 2004. The default FS2004 GPS doesn't let me create flight plans the way I need it.

I use simroutes.com for generating custom plans for GPS. Go to the website, under "generate routes", plug in your origin/destination and the route in between. the website also understands airways, so SNS.V111.ECA will yield all the way points on V111 between SNS and ECA. Although, if your route was incorrect, it won't produce a valid route.

Once you click generate pay attn to the table below and make sure all the plan legs are valid, as in there is no "-" next to the distance/course etc, this is an indication that either your route is wrong or the route is very new and simroutes DB doesn't know it.

Then use the drop down menu to choose FS9/FS2004 and download the flight plan. Move it to your flight plans folder and load it up through your flight plan loader.

Some times, it may refuse to load, this is usually caused by problems from above as explained. Sometimes, all you would've to do is, open the .pln file in a texteditor, notepad maybe, then look at the sequence of waypoints and if they are not correctly numbered, re-number them correctly and try reloading it again.

These steps work for me and have worked everytime in the last 3 years I have used the services, if something doesn't work, post your problems and/or steps and we will try to help you further.

Happy flying and congrats on moving up to FS9!!
