The Honolulu ARTCC is kicking off summer with Hang Ten Hilo 2011. Featuring the very mountainous and very beautiful beaches of Hilo, Hawaii; it will be perfect way to begin your summer fly-in destinations. With plenty of chances to do inner-island flying to destinations like Honolulu, Maui, Kona, Lihue, pilots will have the chance to win big with Honolulu ARTCC’s hosted competitions. Both departures and arrivals into the Hilo field will receive air traffic control on a first come, first serve basis. There is no slot booking.

With the opportunity to do VFR, IFR, oceanic, and inter-island flights, this will certainly be a ultimate collaboration of our air traffic control skills mixed with pilot experience. So it's time to "hang" in there and fly right into Hilo International Airport (PHTO) and the surrounding Hawaii airports. Prizes are given to pilots who conduct the most departures/arrivals (inner-island traffic) in the Hawaii airspace and randomly selected pilots.

Event Time: 2300Z - 0300Z

Event Date: Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Featured Airport: Hilo International Airport (PHTO)

Secondary Airports:

  • Honolulu International Airport (PHNL)
  • Maui (Kahului) Airport (PHOG)
  • Kona International Airport (PHKO)
  • Lihue Airport (PHLI)

You certainly do not want to miss the biggest pilot event to kick off the summer. Visit http://hcfartcc.org/hangten/ or http://hcfartcc.org/ and click on the Hang Ten Hilo banner for more information.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Hang Ten Hilo 2011 is tomorrow! Hilo is expecting some pretty treacherous weather while other airports we are sponsoring like Honolulu, Lihue, Maui, and Kona expect clear skies tomorrow afternoon.

Get ready to test your pilot skills or enjoy the summer weather down in Hawaii .
