Matthew Kreilein 881422 Posted December 19, 2005 at 10:10 PM Posted December 19, 2005 at 10:10 PM Recently, I upgraded my system a bit. I now have the following... AMD Athlon 3800+ 64 X2 dual core CPU ASUS A8V MOBO GeForce 6200 256 MB 8x AGP video card I wiped out Win XP and re-installed as you tend to need to do when you change MOBO. I installed things as usual. My FS9 gets better frame rates and my system runs cooler (that's why I had to ditch the Intel P4 I had). However, I have a new problem. I noticed it after using addon's etc so today I did the following... uninstalled FS9 and ALL addons, including deleting the FS.cfg and scenery.cfg file from the appropriate location C:\Docs & Settings\My name\etc.\etc.\etc. After firing up FS9 with NO addons...I get the following shots in the KSFO area... Default C172 at default KSFO with default FS9 settings as far as scenery complexity, etc. Everything appears to be "there"... Then I switch to the "top-down" view and get these as I zoom out... OK, looks alright... Not too bad...little "thingy" there in the bay and the road looks a little screwy...the airport looks a little "odd" up there at the top of the pic...are those taxiways up there over water??? WHOA!!! What is THIS??? I've never been there, but I KNOW this isn't San Francisco... If I change settings or reload an A/C or something...SOMETIMES it gets evern WEIRDER...YEAH...it CAN... What the hell is THIS???? The rwy is over WATER and what kind of taxiway is that??? Upon closer inspection...it's THIS... BUUUUUT...When I hit "Alt" to change a setting to see what is going on here...as soon as I hit it I get THIS for my taxiway... WHAT is going on here??? I THOUGHT it was some addon problem, etc., but it's GOTTA be something with my video card or something else goofy that I just CANNOT figure out. If ANYONE know what setting could affect this this way...I'd LOVE to hear it. Thanks SO much. Matthew Kreilein
Ben Zwebner 906832 Posted December 19, 2005 at 10:40 PM Posted December 19, 2005 at 10:40 PM Not sure what to tell you... Looks like your FS is getting the Texture plates confused.... try changing the FS9 cfg file... (the one with the DC3 Icon)... if it continues... I would reinstall the whole FS. Matthew Kreilein 881422 Posted December 20, 2005 at 02:16 PM Author Posted December 20, 2005 at 02:16 PM SOLVED!!! I tried rolling back drivers to those that came with my video card (~63.XX) series of nVIDIA and that didn't work. So, rather PAINFULLY, I kept "stepping up" in version until I got one to work...77.72 version. It was the first version to mention my video card as well as "Adds increased performance for dual core processors". So, I guess I gotta just save these, but give a shot now and then to stepping up in version until a random lucky one of mine works. I don't understand these things as in how they work or how you're CONSTANTLY being told to "update those drivers" and then you get something like this. When are these computers gonna start WORKING before we make 'em better, huh? Thanks for the help. Matthew Kreilein

LOL little "thingy" in the bay. This made me laugh cause that's exactly what I would call it. How bizarre was all this? I love how you set it up like a story though. I was entertained. Also congrats on fixing it, sounded like a real pain in the "Mod - lovely stuff". -Aaron Aaron Doyer - Glacier Aviation Virtual - Olympia, WA
