Bo Gercke 845743 Posted December 20, 2005 at 06:24 PM Posted December 20, 2005 at 06:24 PM I'm going to take a second to publicly recognize on of my people. Chris Vincent has made me a firm beleiver in the motto "STAFF IT, AND THEY WILL COME". I was looking through the numbers at ZJX and came across DAB. When I saw the numbers for the past 2 months, I was stunned. My jaw dropped. Over the last year, DAB has had the following numbers, in terms of operations (a takeoff or landing with a flightplan) at the field: 2005: JAN 40 FEB 107 MAR 68 APR 49 MAY 54 JUN 53 JUL 58 AUG 48 SEP 58 OCT 146 NOV 152 The past two months numbers have been the highest ever on VATSIM. When looking at how that happened, I looked at who had staffed the facility. From October 1st through the 31st, Chris Vincent logged 92 hours and change online at DAB Tower. In November, from the 1st to the 30th, he logged 82+ hours online at DAB tower. Chris, you singlehandidly drew the highest operational load to DAB EVER. I think that is rather remarkable, and makes me a firm believer in "Staff it and they will come." Well done. The GX VATSIM Blog

Bryan Wollenberg 810243 Posted December 20, 2005 at 08:38 PM Posted December 20, 2005 at 08:38 PM Can we please stop this? I mean, there are SO MANY really good controllers on VATSIM. Controllers who I believe, if they wanted to, could walk into the FAA and work with minimal training. I understand the spirit of the post, but please... If you fly in other airspaces and experience great ATC, tell them that you think they did a great job. That's why we have the pilot surveys. Hmmmmm. Though I completely agree, GREAT job!!! The "If you staff it, they will come theory" definitely works, and this is just further proof. Nice job guys! Bryan Wollenberg ZLA!

BOOOOOO [murmuring] DAB...where's DAB?....Geez...[/murmuring] Now that I know that DAB is Daytona Beach, FL - I still must tell you that I don't have any clue where that is, aside from the fact that it is in Florida. You have to remember that I'm Canadian and couldn't really tell you where on a map more than 100 US airports are (not including California). DAB wasn't one of them.
