Sava Markovic 1109329 Posted October 28, 2011 at 09:21 PM Posted October 28, 2011 at 09:21 PM Hello Jacob, I see that you are a new member here. I suggest you first try and join one VA, rank up, get into management and see what It really is about. It really is tough and more than just you naming yourself CEO, putting up a few pages on webs.com and thinking everyone is going to be joining. If still, you do want to create a VA, I wish you all the luck. Regards, Sava Markovic SCGvACC Events Coordinator
Nick Cyra 1149288 Posted October 29, 2011 at 02:25 AM Posted October 29, 2011 at 02:25 AM Well said Sava, as you know, he is the CEO at Air Serbia. Being a hub manager at an airlines for about a year now, just this job is diffucult to keep up with. If you want start a VA, email an Human resources or CEO at a VA and ask how you can get get started. PhPvms is a great plaform to check out for getting started. Getting the website, routes and pilots may be the diffucult part of it. James Bishop Posted October 29, 2011 at 03:52 AM Posted October 29, 2011 at 03:52 AM I can say, now that Virtual Northwest has been around for a year, there is more to starting a VA than I thought when my partners and I started tossing the idea around. We did a ton of planning, getting things lined out and implementing them. Now a year later, we are still active and friendly with each other. Anyone can start a VA, but keeping it going and avoiding the flash in the pan syndrome is where the true test is.
James Slaughter 1172498 Posted November 2, 2011 at 03:01 AM Posted November 2, 2011 at 03:01 AM I can certainly attest to the other responses. It is hard to start your own VA. You definitely need a lot of support and a lot of willing volunteers to get your project off the ground. I wish you luck! Be prepared for this VA to take over at least the first year of your life! But have fun and enjoy the journey James Slaughter Owner / President BlueHorizon International http://www.bluehorizonintl.com VATSIM P1 Rated / ZLA I-11 Rated
Luke Kolin Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:08 AM Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:08 AM Be prepared for this VA to take over at least the first year of your life! I've heard that Virtual Airline "CEOs" are getting younger and younger, but it's gotten quite ridiculous now. Cheers! Luke ... I spawn hundreds of children a day. But have fun and enjoy the journey 1st year? Building it is one thing, but in order to be successful, it has to be maintained and you will need to continously add fresh content. My two cents... Marc Wheeler Posted November 2, 2011 at 07:27 PM Posted November 2, 2011 at 07:27 PM Not nice... but it is funny. All joking aside, there are tons of new VA startups every month and then with a short period of time, they all close. If you are serious about starting a VA, I would suggest you fly for a VA and apply for any positions they have available. If after a year, you still want to start a VA, then go for it. Aran Bewley 1212062 Posted December 2, 2011 at 08:44 AM Posted December 2, 2011 at 08:44 AM i have signed on with flyuk and vatsim and booked a flight, but how to i actually fly it?
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted December 2, 2011 at 01:39 PM Posted December 2, 2011 at 01:39 PM you need to ask your VA how to do their flights. as far as VATSIM, you need to download one of the pilot clients to fly on the network. www.vatsim.net/prc also check out the quickstart guide at http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/
Semir Gebran Posted December 4, 2011 at 01:46 PM Posted December 4, 2011 at 01:46 PM I would like to wish eveyone that wants to start a VA all the best, but maybe it is a thought to reconcider the sentance "we are hiring" in all those ads as hire according to a dictionary is: a. To engage the services of (a person) for a fee; employ b. To engage the temporary use of for a fee; rent The "staff", obviously does not get paid, so it just sounds so out of place when i read "we are hiring" Just my thought's nt that anybody cares Again, good luck! /Semir
