Finding a VA

Hi there!

I've been flying for several VA's since 2007, and i know some of you are flying for the same VA for years. But! My problem is, i want realism and i want to join a realistic VA which simulates a real airline.

I'm looking for a virtual airline using those requirements:

- It must simulate a real airline

- It must have realistic preflight tools to make the flight realistic

- No aircraft based ranks (I'm getting tired of that)

I would like a VA in Europe, as i'm usually flying in Europe, but any suggestions is welcome!

Let me know if you have some recommendations, don't forget to explain something about the VA.

Thank you in advance!

Morten, there are tons of VAs out there that are based on real airlines, most of them are VATSIM patterns. A list of VAs and their websites can be found here!

There are ways of making your VA flying realistic even if the airline itself isn't. For example, I am doing most of my flying for 3 VA's right now, depending on the mood, and for all of them, I self dispatch using a combination of vRoute and Topcat.

1. FedEx VA...there are a few different FedEX's out there, but the one I use is http://www.fdxva.net. They stay true to the airframes and routings, and you can jump into the MD-11 right out of the gate which was the main appeal to me. On the good side, they have the real world FedEx schedule on the site, as well as the airframes that correspond to them. Also, all flights have to be flown on Vatsim, and the hub managers do check to make sure that you did before approving the flight. Also a good community...fun people to chat with on their TS server. On the bad side, no ACARS

2. Virtual Star Alliance... http://www.virtualstaralliance.com Started this year by a couple of staff from the Toronto FIR, they have incorporated most of the Star Alliance carriers into their schedule. I do most of my flying with these guys right now. On the good side, immense choice from the schedule, and they use kAcars which is a free download and works really well. Website is the well travelled phpvms, which has its usual set of challenges. Also, no airframe restrictions. Not too many negatives with this one.

3. Virtual Sky Team... http://www.nwva.org Been around for a long time. I fly with the KLM branch. The neat thing with this one is that the hub managers do the dispatching...send you a new flight [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment whenever you finish the current one. No Acars, but you submit your pireps through fslog.net.

Each has their advantages...

You can find them on the linksmanager for partner VAs.

Anyway, you can also check out Air Serbia Virtual ( http://www.skysim.net/airserbia )

We are not based on a real airline but tend to be like one.

We have entry exams, type rating training and checkrides before you actually fly.

We do not have rank based system for the aircraft you can fly.

We accept up to 50 h feom VATSIM or other VAs.

We have pilot briefings for flights on our websie.

Anyway you can check our ops manual (http://www.skysim.net/airserbia/docs/ops_manual.pdf)

PM me doe more info.

You could always try BAV - http://www.bavirtual.co.uk They are open for applications at the moment and are recognised by the real world BA.
