Alistair McCartney Posted January 20, 2012 at 05:40 PM Posted January 20, 2012 at 05:40 PM Hi Guys, Any help here please? I can't think what to do to solve this problem. http://tinypic.com/r/2uijd4h/5 I've played about with things, nothing seems to be working. I checked that direct sound definitely works when using VRC too. Ross Carlson Posted January 20, 2012 at 06:23 PM Posted January 20, 2012 at 06:23 PM Do you have the .NET Framework 3.5 installed? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Alistair McCartney Posted January 20, 2012 at 06:45 PM Author Posted January 20, 2012 at 06:45 PM I've downloaded it.. tried both double clicking and right click / run.. nothing seems to happen. Thats downloading from the link in your FAQ's. Edit: Not sure if it helps, but i understand another person had a problem with vSTARS not being compatible outside of the US.. I'm with ZDC but based in Scotland if that makes a difference. Ross Carlson Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:00 PM Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:00 PM Not sure why the .NET install is failing ... definitely gotta get that installed in order for vSTARS to work. This isn't the non-US issue ... that had to do with parsing coordinates entered into the facility configuration. Ross Carlson Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:12 PM Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:12 PM Did you let the vSTARS installer run the directX updater? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC

Alistair McCartney Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:28 PM Author Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:28 PM I've been playing about.. and just tried to reinstall vSTARS again and its ran fine this time! I'm guessing it may have been a .net problem as reinstalling that then vSTARS seems to have worked. I look forward to testing this out! Thanks! Alistair McCartney Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:34 PM Author Posted January 20, 2012 at 07:34 PM I'm not sure. As I say, when i first tried to run the 3.5 framework it would open and then close instantly, not doing anything. I'm not really up to date with this stuff so wasn't sure how long it would take and [Mod - Happy Thoughts]umed that it may have already been done. Hrm ... my best guess is that .NET 3.5 wasn't installed when you ran the vSTARS installer for the first time, and when the vSTARS installer ran the DirectX updater, it didn't put the right version (or any version) of the DirectX .NET library on your machine. Whether my guess is correct or not, it's good to know that a reinstall helped you, since it may suggest that the order of installing .NET and DirectX/vSTARS may be significant.
