Andrew Johnson 1207870 Posted January 26, 2012 at 01:20 AM Posted January 26, 2012 at 01:20 AM (edited) Well our high school Future pilots club has grown to the point that we would like to turn it into a Semi-VA. As it seems none of us have any experience setting up anything like this. I would be very greatful to anyone willing to provide any [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance to us. This club is run out Rincon/University High School. We already have Custom painted Aircraft we just need a website and the ACARS program. Thanks! Brian Sommers Posted January 27, 2012 at 05:12 PM Posted January 27, 2012 at 05:12 PM well, I use this: VAFS 5.0 it will cost you $5/month to use it, but the pilots who join the VA, join free Get all the kids in the cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts] to pitch in every month, and it would probably be less then $.50/each student depending on how many students you have. This sounds like a lot of fun.. wish I had the option of something like this when I was in HS. also, consider just starting out with a facebook group and/or page. You DON'T need some huge fancy schmancy website to start, but at the same time stay away from freebie websites that have heavy advertising. This is why I recommend a FB page, nice and neat and everyone is usually familiar with it and you could be up and running very quickly. Sava Markovic 1109329 Posted January 27, 2012 at 05:21 PM Posted January 27, 2012 at 05:21 PM phpVMS is also a good option. It is free and you only need hosting/domain. But you can also get that for free. I highly recommend it! Good luck! Sava Markovic SCGvACC Events Coordinator
Kyle Ramsey 810181 Posted January 27, 2012 at 06:08 PM Posted January 27, 2012 at 06:08 PM fseconomy.com While you can have a separate web site, you don't need one to form a group and start flying. Has its own client for FS9/FSX/XP and all free. Log books are already there and groups can have a small part of the forum for their use. One of the best parts is it is 100% VATSIM compatible.
